Little peek #2 : February 2016

Hello guys !

February has gone by really fast and it is already time for another little peek aka this month’s wrap up. This month was impressively good, I loved all seven of the books I read and I’m super happy about it. As per usual, the titles are direct links to the Goodreads pages.

Here are the books, in the order I read them :

A. R. Torre - The girl in 6EOh my god ! What a thriller !

This book was a bit out of my comfort zone and I was pleasantly surprised by it. It made me feel all kind of emotions that I didn’t think I could feel reading an erotic thriller with a protagonist who has urges to kill.

The ending had me curious to read the rest of the series because it was too good to be true.

You can find my review here

4.5 stars

“Others letting you down is ice cream and cookies compared with the rejection of your own soul. I don’t know what is sadder, expecting myself to fail or being too scared to dream of success.”

Cassie Clare - (#4) City of Fallen Angels.jpgThis books was the slowest of the series. Not that minded, I loved it still.

I really appreciated having so much of Simon, seeing everything through his eyes, having him figure out the whole vampire thing.

But then, came the end of the book and Cassandra Clare left it on a HUMONGOUS cliffhanger and the worst thing is, I had to read another book before getting to City of Lost Souls. Agh! I was so frustrated.

4 stars

“But I watch my brothers give their hearts away and I think, Don’t you know better? Hearts are breakable. And I think even when you heal, you’re never what you were before.”

Jess Rothenberg - The Catastrophic History of You and MeI loved this book so much ! It was amazing.

It deals with the grief of death, not only the one that the family and friends of the deceased go through, but in this novel, it is about Brie’s (The dead girl) grief and all the stages that she went through to find peace in her little slice of heaven and maybe love to.

This book did something inside of me, it left a mark in ways I wasn’t expecting.

You can find my review here

5 stars

“You can obsess and obsess over how things ended—what you did wrong or could have done differently—but there’s not much of a point. It’s not like it’ll change anything. So really, why worry?”

Cassie Clare - (#5) City of Lost Souls.jpgCan I make a confession real quick ? I LOVE Sebastian ! He is so smart and vicious ! First villain I ever loved. On the other hand he cannot help who he is and that makes him all the more precious in my eyes.

Okay so, most of this book was more strategy and plotting the destruction if the world than action and fight and battle but it still was excting. That being said, the end made my head spin from all the swords, the bows and good guys and bad guys. AND GLORIOUS.

4.5 stars

“Iz,” Alec said tiredly. “It’s not like it’s one big bad thing. It’s a lot of little invisible things. When Magnus and I were traveling, and I’d call from the road, Dad never asked how he was. When I get up to talk in Clave meetings, no one listens, and I don’t know if that’s because I’m young or if it’s because of something else. I saw Mom talking to a friend about her grandchildren and the second I walked into the room they shut up. Irina Cartwright told me it was a pity no one would ever inherit my blue eyes now.” He shrugged and looked toward Magnus, who took a hand off the wheel for a moment to place it on Alec’s. “It’s not like a stab wound you can protect me from. It’s a million little paper cuts every day.”

Rainbow Rowell - Fangirl 2.jpgZFDJSLGNV  SLJDKJGLSV DFKJSLQ *-* ! This book made me fangirl so hard ! It was beyond cute, and  I loved how relatable and real it was.

And LEVI ! I doubtlessly fell in love with him, that guy is the dream, he’s the most realistic book character I’ve ever read (All of them actually) .

I can go on and on and on all the day, but that’s what a review is for. You can find it right here.

4.5 stars

“Happily ever after, or even just together ever after, is not cheesy,” Wren said. “It’s the noblest, like, the most courageous thing two people can shoot for.”

Cassie Clare - (#6) City of Heavenly Fire.jpgOH MY GOD ! This book took me so long to finish but it was beyond amazing ! I loved every single bit of it.

THE EPILOGUE THOUGH !!! That thing was perfection, everything wrapped up, no loose ends and it made me appreciate the character development throughout the series of every single one of them. It also mended the pieces of my broken heart which was caused by the last chapters, those were dark times people, VERY dark times indeed !

The thing that stood out to me the most, is how Cassandra Clare’s writing improved with each book, this last one was quite frankly a masterpiece, I just have so many feels !

5 stars

“I did not make a pie,” Alec repeated, gesturing expressively with one hand, “for three reasons. One, because I do not have any pie ingredients. Two, because I don’t actually know how to make a pie.”
He paused, clearly waiting.
Removing his sword and leaning it against the cave wall, Jace said warily, “And three?”
“Because I am not your bitch,” Alec said, clearly pleased with himself.”

Benjamin Alire Sàenz - Aristole and Dante discover the Secret of the UniverseThis is the first LGBTQ+ novel I’ve ever read and I really enjoyed it. Not really what I expected but it was still an interesting read.

I loved the sides that Ari and Dante brought in each other that no one else could and how good and right they were for each other.

Even though I had some issues with it, I really liked it. You can see my review here.

3.5 stars

“I wondered what that was like, to hold someone’s hand. I bet you could sometimes find all of the mysteries of the universe in someone’s hand.”

That’s it until next time.

What books did you read in February?

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.

TAG #4 : The secret life of a bookblogger

Hello guys !

Today is my blog’s One month Anniversary

I can’t begin to express how much just one little month of blogging has brought to me. I met some wonderful fellow readers, and got to express my opinions without being afraid of others’ responses. So to celebrate this little symbolic date, I thought it was only fit to do this tag. I was tagged by Brianna @ PaperbackBri , go check out her tag and her blog too, she is really sweet. Thank you Bri for tagging me !

Onto the tag now :

1- How long have you been a blogger?

Mmm … Can you guess how long it’s been by now ? haha. If not, today I’ve completed a month.

2- At what point do you think you will stop?

In a very very VERY long time hopefully. I’d like to say never but that’s not realistic given where my life is headed right now. Probably, when I’ll start working full time at the hospital and being On-call, etc, which luckily isn’t going to happen until a few years from now.

3- What is the best thing?

One word. The community. It gives me a sense of belonging that I love. I think that’s the case for all of us bookbloggers out there. I get to share my opinions, read other people’s opinions, discover new books, new people.

4- What is the worst thing? What do you do to make it okay?

The pressure that comes sometimes from having unpopular opinions. When I dislike a book that everyone raves about, or when I love a book that everyone hates, I get existential crises haha. But now, it got better, I have unpopular opinions, other readers do too and it’s okay. When such things happen I’m just like: Fuck it !

5- How long does it take to find/create pictures to use?

I’m actually really picky with my picture (Unless they’re just book covers, then it’s a matter of seconds) so I’ll be scrolling for half an hour looking for the right one haha. And if I’m editing them, which doesn’t happen that often, it’s takes up as much time.

6- Who’s your book crush?

Really? REALLY NOW? You just heartlessly want me to answer that. Okay so I’ll choose the most recent add to my collection of book boyfriends : LEVI from Fangirl. I’m not gonna elaborate because I’ll start spinning out of control, K?

7- What author would you like to have on your blog?

The first one my mind went to is J. K. Rowling but I feel like it’s a basic answer so I’ll change it. I’ll go with Markus Zusak. He wrote one of my favorite books of all time : The book thief, and I’d love to chat with him.

8- What do you wear when you write your blog?

My Pajamas. 100% of the time. It seems like I cannot think when I’m wearing regular clothes. Plus I only write at nights and in the weekends, that explains it too.

9- How long does it take you to prepare?

For the reviews, I jolt down all my thoughts whenever I think them, so when after that I have to organize them and get rid of the ones that are irrelevant. That takes approximatively one hour and a half.

For the other posts, it can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half, it depends.

10- How do you feel about the book blogger community/culture?

I love it deeply. As I said before, it gives me a sense of belonging like no other  cyber-community before that. To be honest, I’ve never felt like I belonged to any other community what so ever, but this one just has a hold on my heart *-*. And I also feel that it is really accepting of everyone and anyone who’s willing to commit to it.

11- What do you think one should do to have a successful blog?

Be honest. Don’t be afraid to speak up and show the person that you are and what you think on certain matters, because as I see it, the blogs that do that are MY FAVORITES. Most of the time, those blogs are funny and quirky, and just plain amazing.

12- Who do you tag?

I Tag :

Josie @ Josiesbookcorner

Michelle @ ThewrintingHufflepuff

Beth @ Betwixtthesepages

Ps: If you’ve already done it or you just don’t feel like it, I’m sorry just ignore my tag hah.

That’s it until next time.

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.

Aristotle and Dante discover the secret of the Universe – Two Boys, a Truck and the Universe

Benjamin Alire Sàenz - Aristole and Dante discover the Secret of the UniverseTitle : Aristotle and Dante discover the Secret of the Universe

Author : Benjamin Alire Sáenz

Publication date : February 21st 2012

Publisher : Simon & Schuster Books

Genre : YA Contemporary

Synopsis : Aristotle is an angry teen with a brother in prison. Dante is a know-it-all who has an unusual way of looking at the world. When the two meet at the swimming pool, they seem to have nothing in common. But as the loners start spending time together, they discover that they share a special friendship—the kind that changes lives and lasts a lifetime. And it is through this friendship that Ari and Dante will learn the most important truths about themselves and the kind of people they want to be. (From Goodreads)

Rating: 3.5 stars

Copy of Word Wonders (4)

“Another secret of the universe: Sometimes pain was like a storm that came out of nowhere. The clearest summer morning could end in a downpour. Could end in lightning and thunder.”

(No spoilers)

I picked this book up expecting a cutesy romance and that’s not what I got. Instead I got a story about family, friendship and wounds that not even time can heal, and I liked it.

This is the story of Aristotle Mendoza, a sad troubled loner who’s trying to figure out what’s “wrong” with him and why he felt the way he felt, never happy, always looking for something more. That’s when he meets Dante Quintana, who’s his opposite, he is an optimistic kid with a peculiar view on life and the world, and they become bestfriends. And that relationship begins to change him. For the better that is.

I fell in love with the family aspect of it which is huge. I’ll forever be grateful to Sáenz for making it such an important part, because YA novels are really REALLY lacking it and it is sad. My favorite characters are actually the parents, both sets, with their qualities, their flaws, their heartaches and their joys. I loved how caring and involved in their sons’ lives they were, it felt real, it WAS real. Unlike in most YA, they set rules, boundaries, they got mad and grounded them. They knew when to intervene and when to give them space, but not too much though.

c6722450c7470bf3c7c851c6b41a4e31.jpgNow, Aristotle. He annoyed the hell out of me. I know that he was trying to figure himself out. Been there, done that. Maybe not in the same way, but we’ve all, at some point, questioned everything that previously made sens in our lives. It’s just that he overanalyzed everything, even the meaningless things that he shouldn’t waste time on, I just wanted to scream “STOP MOANING AND MOVE YOUR BUTT!”. Too much self-hate. Too much self-pity. That was for 90% of the book , but by the end, I really liked the person he became. They way he made peace with the idea that his family wasn’t perfect and he came to truly love them inspite of everything. Dante, I sadly didn’t care much for (I’m sorry okay? Don’t kill me, please?) I didn’t hate him but I didn’t love him either, the thing that I enjoyed about him is that he felt good about who he was, he didn’t quite know who he was yet but he was okay with it. Weirdly enough, I LOVED their relationship, it was so cute and innocent, and most of all RAW. I don’t know how to explain it but it felt honest, the way that sometimes Ari hated (so to speak) Dante for no apparent reason was just normal.

The writing was poetic at times and I really loved that about it but the dialogue didn’t feel natural to me at some points, especially between Ari and Dante. The way they said each other’s names at the end of most of the sentences just felt weird to me.

Over all, it was very enjoyable and quick to read, I was able to finish it in 2 sittings. This novel is about a boy’s journey into manhood, finding out, among other things, his history, his sexualty, his likes and dislikes … Himself, to keep it short.

Top 5 Wednesday #4 : Bad Love !

Hello guys !T5W

So today is Wednesday, this means that it is time for me to do another T5W.  It is a weekly feature created By Lainey @ Gingerreadslainey with a different theme each week. For more information, you can check the Goodreads group.

This week’s theme is: WORST LOVE INTERESTS

For once, I won’t ramble before diving into it, because this first week back to school is having me drained of all energy and I frankly don’t have much more to say haha!

Side note : I wracked my brain to find a fifth but I couldn’t

Sans titree.pngI hated this girl SO MUCH. She’s so selfish, and borderline psychotic, she breaks down for no reason then two minutes later, she’s doing completely fine. She had a boyfriend and she went around flirting -and more- with another guy. Agh. I despise this kind of girls.

ddThis guy is so freaking winy. And fatalistic. And just plain annoying to me. And I just didn’t like him with America to be honest.

Sans titre&What is it with John Green and bitchy female characters? Seriously man, what happened to strong but yet gentle, caring girls? This one again is so self-absorbed and acts like the world revolves around her. Plus she plainly and simply used Quentin because she knew he was in love with her.

Sans titre.pngI love this book. It will probably be one of my favorite reads of 2016. And I loved Abel at first, he was ready to do anything to protect his little sister and his life sucked and was heartbreaking. BUT, at one point he did a thing, a terrible thing and I just couldn’t get past it, even though the author explained why he did it, but it just didn’t excuse anything.

That’s it until next time.

What love interests do you think are the worst? And why so? Leave your opinions in the comments, I’d love to know!

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.

Tag #3 : Burn – Rewrite – Reread

Hello guys !

I was scrolling a few days back down the Reader and found this tag on Beth‘s blog @ Betwixtthesepages and she was tagging EVERYONE, so I decided I would jump on the occasion and do it myself. By the way, you should check out her blog, she is amazing !

The rules :

  • Randomly choose 3 books you’ve read. (Use the ‘random’ option on your Goodreads “read” shelf).
  • For each group of three books, decide which book you’d burn, rewrite, or reread. (A lot like “Kiss, Marry, Kill”).
  • Repeat until you complete three rounds (or five).
I decided to go crazy and do 5 round.
Paulo Coelho - The zahir    Jodi Ellen Malpas - This Man Confessed    R. Mead - (#3) Shadow Kiss
—                                        Burn                                        Rewrite                      —                   Reread
The Zahir : I enjoyed it (a little) but out of the 3, it’s the one I would burn.
This man confessed : I loooved this book but some scenes made me uncomfortable
Shadow kiss : If I had time to reread a whole series I would.
Stephenie Meyer - Breaking Dawn    Lauren Oliver - Delirium    Paulo Coelho - Eleven minutes
                                        Burn                                        Rewrite                      —                   Reread
Breaking Dawn: Sparkling vampires? Love triangle that makes me want to throw myself
out the window? No, not my thing.
Delirium : I mildly enjoyed it but I had a lot of issues with it, enough to not continue on with the series.
Eleven minutes : I read it a while back and absolutely loved it, which come to think of it was a little (very) inappropriate considering my age at the time.
Melissa de la Cruz - Misguided Angel    John Green - The Fault in our Stars    Ann Aguirre - Outpost
–                                        Burn                                        Rewrite                      —                   Reread
Misguided angel : I read it when I was 13 and I remember loving it, I think I would really dislike it if I was to read it now.
The fault in our stars : Just because I don’t want to get my heart broken again.
Outpost : People living underground ? YES. Zombie-like creatures? YES. Nugh said.

Laurent Gounelle - The Man Who Wanted to Be Happy    Veronica Roth - Allegiant    Tabitha Sazuma - Forbidden

—                                        Burn                                        Rewrite                      –                   Reread

The man who wanted to be happy : I absolutely hated this book. The only book I ever DNFed.

Allegiant : We all know why. I don’t need to elaborate on this one.

Forbidden : I cried my heart out while reading this book, I wouldn’t want to read it for that exact reason, but out of the 3, this is the one.

John Green - An Abundance of Katherines     Cassie Clare - (#1) City of Bones    Markus Suzak - The Book Thief

–                                        Burn                                        Rewrite                      —                   Reread

An abundance of Katherines : It was okay. No more.

City of Bones : I want to rewrite it just because the reread category is already taken

The Book thief : This is one of my all time favorites. Markus Zusak is just a word genius.

Fangirl – Nerd meets Love and the Outside World

Rainbow Rowell - Fangirl.jpgTitle : Fangirl

Author : Rainbow Rowell

Publication date : January 30th 2014

Publisher : Pan MacMillan

Genre : YA Contemporary

Synopsis : Cath and Wren are identical twins, and until recently they did absolutely everything together. Now they’re off to university and Wren’s decided she doesn’t want to be one half of a pair any more – she wants to dance, meet boys, go to parties and let loose. It’s not so easy for Cath. She’s horribly shy and has always buried herself in the fan fiction she writes, where she always knows exactly what to say and can write a romance far more intense than anything she’s experienced in real life.
Now Cath has to decide whether she’s ready to open her heart to new people and new experiences, and she’s realizing that there’s more to learn about love than she ever thought possible …
A tale of fanfiction, family, and first love. (From Goodreads)

Rating: 4.5 stars

Copy of Word Wonders (3)

She didn’t have words for what Levi was. He was a cave painting. He was the red ballon. “You’re magic” she said.

(No spoilers)

I debated for a moment whether to do this review or not, because I’m basically the last person is the world to read this book but then I decided to do it because I wanted to pour my feelings out.

Let me gather my thoughts and feelings for a second because otherwise I swear I’ll just be screaming and fangirling and swooning until the end of times. I don’t even know where to start.

So, here we go. Cath is a college freshman. Socially awkward and introvert, she has humongous trouble fitting in especially since her twin sister Wren basically abandoned her (I am going to rant more about that later).  But as the days go, she forms an unlikely bond with her roommate Reagan, who is a strong, independent, out-going, big-mouthed girl. Basically, everything that Cath isn’t. I love Reagan so much, she’s so funny and their friendship is amazing, she was kind of a mentor to Cath, being older and more experienced.

a84e128b5e0a39729d805a2a25a09b3c.jpgThen comes Levi. Oh Levi! He puts a big smile on my face with each one of his lines, he’s just so genuine and caring. I love how Rainbow Rowell made him flawed with his receding hairline, his too dark eyebrows, he’s just even more endearing that way. I loved how he wasn’t a jerk, and I think YA novels really lack that “nice guy since the beginning” factor, and I loved even more how he was truly interested in who Cath is and what she does. The evolution of their relationship was heart-warming, how they went from being friends bonding over books, fanfiction and other nerdy goods (Every one of us’ dream, Am I right or am I right?) , to being cutely awkwardly together (the awkwardness mostly came from her), into a strong relationship where everything came naturally.

Let’s talk about Wren for a second. What the hell is wrong with that girl ? For most of the book, I wanted to slap her across the face and back again everytime she opened her mouth. She was so self-absorbed and she embodied the typical college freshman going wrong. She put herself back together by the end of the book but still, I couldn’t get over how bratty she was.

I liked how this book dealt with family issues, they made the whole thing feel even more realistic. The twins dad has some mental health issues and their mom abandoned them when they were eight just to show up ten years later not even trying to be their mother but their friend, Agh! My hate for that woman is deeper than the ocean.

The only thing that bugged me a little was the Simon and Baz excerpts that came up abruptly when she was reading the fanfiction to Levi because I would be so invested in the moment and suddenly it would be cut off and replaced by some Simon and Baz action and I’m like “BRING BACK CATH AND LEVI NOW!”, if I wanted to read about them I would’ve picked up Carry on (which I’ll most certainly do soon), on the other hand I didn’t mind the excerpts at the end of the chapters, those just made me more excited to read Carry on.

This was an amazing read. Simply but beautifully written, I even got some new favorite quotes out of it and the dialogue felt so natural, none of it was forced and everything was something that I actually saw people saying in their daily lives. And the thing that was so reliable to me is how she couldn’t wrap her head around the fact that Levi wanted her, she just made a mental list of everything that was wrong with it, and that’s so me. Even though I am a pretty outgoing person, I am exactly like her in that sense.

Side note: I watched Grease about 2 weeks ago, if I read Fangirl before that, I wouldn’t have got the reference.

Busy life ? Here’s how to stay sane

Hello guys !

I’m here today with kind of a discussion or basically me rambling about something that I’ve been thinking about a lot since I started my blog, which is : How to manage my time ?

Most of the time, I feel like 24 hours are not enough to do all the things I want to do.

Let's talk about ... Scheduling

cf4f5c526bc5348d13a92c9aaf7d7234As you may or may not know, I am a second year medstudent so my life is pretty much studying haha which I can’t really complain about because it is something that I love and that I’ve always wanted to do. That being said, 80% of my time is devoted to that (okay I’m just making these statistics up but you get the point!) which means that I only have 20% to actually LIVEBy the way, I swear the picture is no joke, I already have more than half of that and I don’t even have my second semester books yet.

The past month has been relatively easy because I almost never got out of the house, I was hardcore studying for my exams and in the middle of that chaos, when I took a break I would spend it either writing a blog post or catching up on some of my favorite Tv-shows, as for my reading, I did most of it at night before falling asleep. But that routine can’t last eternally. Starting Monday I’m going back to school, I have classes between 8am and 12pm everyday and sometimes (which is 2 or 3 times a week) I have lab work 2 to 4 hours in the afternoon between 2pm and 6pm (I start hospital work next year so yay for that!) that leaves me with the rest of the day + the weekend to study some more at home -which I have to do daily to keep up, to have a social life, to read, to watch my Tv-shows, to blog regularly and to workout.

You can see now why I’m stating that 24hours are not enough, and the control freak that I am doesn’t want to give anything up, so for the last week I’ve been thinking of ways to make it work and I thought why not share them with you, maybe it could help some of you who have hectic lives as well or maybe it is completely useless, but either way here it is.

  • The control freak has to be tamed :
I can’t do all that and still keep my sanity. It is just impossible. I have to learn to let somethings go, somethings that can be pushed to the summer when I’ll have more time, or somethings that I can get on without, and also it is important to remember that it is okay to be messy and lazy sometimes. So with that comes the next point.
  • I’m pausing or giving up on some Tv-shows :
My addiction is truly a problem haha. I watch way WAY too many tv-shows, and lately I haven’t been enjoying a lot of the ones that I used to really love before, some of them are starting to drag and some others I just lost interest in, so I decided I was going to keep just my favorites for now. (If you want a list of those let me know in the comments and I will be happy to share)
  • My family and friends come first :
I can’t emphasize enough on this, cherish your family and friends while you still have them around, and your family above all, because sometimes we tend to neglect them, I know I’ve been guilty of that especially in my High School years. But as I grew up, I learned the importance of having strong relationships with family and friends and if you want to build them, it is now or never. With time, friendships tend to fade, people change, and we’re left off with ones that genuinely matter, but if we don’t work on making them matter, what will we be left off with? So, spend time your parents, fight with your siblings and then make up, go out with your friends, have fun and make every moment count. If I have to read less to make it happen, it is a small price to pay, if I have to sleep less, so be it.
Making a schedule is the key, really, just do it, you’ll feel way better afterwards.
Before becoming the control-freak, organisation-obsessed person that I am today, I was very messy, and I mean VERY. But since the beginning of this academic year, I decided to be a grown up and use my phone calendar, to-do lists and such, AND IT WORKS WONDERS. I have been so efficient this year, I’m quite proud of myself to be honest hah! I’m not perfect at it and I don’t think I’ll ever be because some days my laziness takes over.
  • I schedule EVERYTHING.
Yes, everything, even the things that seem small, because if I don’t they’ll start to get bigger and bigger until they swallow me alive (Lord have mercy xD).
I’ll give you an exemple of somethings I schedule, starting off of course with blogging:
I have 3 set days that I have to respect which are : Monday (Random ramblings) – Wednesday (T5W) – Saturday (Reviews), but of course if and when I have free time I’ll post more as it has been the case these past few days, this post included.
I also schedule my workouts 4 times a week, orthodontist’s appointments to fit my planning…
  • My phone calendar is my bestfriend
That thing has the most random stuff and it has saved my life at many occasions. Everything mentioned above is on there (Except the workouts) plus birthdays, events, other appointments etc.
  • Pre-writing my blog posts
I have to write ahead, especially the Monday posts because that day is usually a very busy one for me. And sometimes the Saturday ones too (Not often) because I either go out or spent the day out of town at my grandma’s house.
This thing is getting out of hand, and is way longer than I ever expected, so I’ll leave it at that for now. If you have any questions, suggestions or ideas, please leave them down below. I love to interact with you guys!

That’s it until next time.

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by all the things you have to do ? If the answer is yes, what’s your remedy ?

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.

Tag #2 : The would you rather Book Tag

Hello guys !

My exams are done and that means that I have a little extra time to post on the blog for the rest of this week.

A few days back I saw this tag on Michaela‘s blog @ Themeaningofwrittenwords and since she was tagging every one that means that she technically was tagging me too (YAY!). Don’t forget to go check out her blog, it is so cute, and she is a very sweet girl.

TAGS (15)

Here we go:

1 – Would you rather only read trilogies or only read standalones?

Already a hard one ! I really love and reach for both, it depends on my mood, but if I had to choose I would go with Trilogies.

2 – Would you rather only read male or female authors?

I tend to lean more towards female authors, and my favorite books are by female authors. So yeah, that’s my answer.

3- Would you rather shop at Barnes and Noble or Amazon?

Barnes and Nobles with no doubt in mind. It’s just way more fun to get lost between the rows of books and be able to hold and feel them.

4 – Would you rather books were made into TV shows or movies?

Tv shows. Definitely Tv shows. I’m already obsessed so why change?

5 – Would you rather read only 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?

What kind of question is this? 5 books per week of course! But if I want to actually go out and live my life that’s impossible haha!

6 – Would you rather be a professional author or reviewer?

Professional reviewer. I used to write a lot, I loved writing but it’s like I lost the fire and I don’t feel like it anymore, few years back I would’ve said without even blinking professional author but that passion is sadly just gone.

7 – Would you rather be a librarian or a bookseller?

A librarian maybe ? I really don’t know how to answer this one.

8 – Would you rather read only your favorite genre or every other genre but your favorite?

My answer will sound weird but I would go with every other genre. Because if I read only my favorite I would get sick of it and end up hating it and I don’t want that to happen.

9 – Would you rather only read e-books or physical books?

Physical books of course.

10 – Would you rather read a love-at-first-sight romance or an intense love triangle romance?

I kind of don’t like both, but I hate insta-love deeply. So I’m choosing Love triangle because I enjoy them when they’re nicely done and there’s no way to save love-at-first-sight romances in my eyes.

That’s it until next time.

I tag whoever wants to do this tag, it is so entertaining. And leave your links in the comments, I would love to read all of your answers.

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.

Top 5 wednesday #3 : Suggestions

Hello guys !T5W

So today is Wednesday, this means that it is time for me to do another T5W.  It is a weekly feature created By Lainey @ Gingerreadslainey with a different theme each week. For more information, you can check the Goodreads group.

This week’s theme is: BEST SUGGESTED BOOKS.

Let’s get on with the list, shall we :

5- SEVEN DAYS FOR AN ETERNITYMarc Levy - Seven Day for an Eternity.jpg

I read this book a while back, years ago, and I remember loving it ! It was suggested to me in the bookstore after I bought one of the author’s other books.

It is by a french author and about a man sent by Lucifer and a woman sent by God to see which one -of good and evil- can win. Little did they know that they would cross paths and fall in love. I really liked the concept and it was an easy quick read.

4- WINTER SONGJean-Claude Mourlevat - Le Combat d'Hiver

This is another book by a french author and the first dystopian I ever read, before I knew what dystopians were. I was 13 so I’m not sure what I would think about it now that I’ve read a lot more books but I am not going to risk staining the memory I have of it by re-reading it. I also remember this being the first book to ever make me cry, so that must be something ,right ?

It was recommended to me by one of my middle school bestfriends.

3- THE GIRL IN 6EThe girl in 6E

This is a recent one. I saw Raeleen @ Padfootandprongs ‘s review and she absolutely loved it, so it got me intrigued and I picked it up and let me tell you something, that book is unlike anything I’ve never read before and it was amazing.

Here’s my review if you are curious to know more.

I don’t remember what book I finished and this appeared as a suggestion on Goodreads .

After reflection. Fuck this book.

1- HARRY POTTER imagesK000MIF5

This was my favorite teacher’s doing, french teacher to be exact, and I’ll forever be grateful to her for introducing me to this magnificent word.

That series is my favorite series of all times since I was 10 or maybe 11.

That’s it until next time.

What are some of the best suggested books you ever read?

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.

Having friends who don’t read

Hello guys !

Today I’m back to you with a real daily struggle of mine which is that none of my friends read, or even if they do, not consistently (they only read a book if it’s really hyped or made into a movie) which frustrates me for a whole bunch of reasons.

I’ve never ever ever had a friend who’s as much of a hardcore reader as I am which is sad for them thinking about the endless amounts of worlds and tales they’re missing on and annoying for me – because I have no one to talk too (Thanks to this baby blog of mine, the latter is not much of a problem anymore).

So in that train of thought, here are some situations, us bookworms with non-reading friends find ourselves frequently put into:

  • Having no one to fangirl with
This is me each time I’m excited about a book, a ship, a character and find myself with no one to discuss it with
  • Or no one to rant to about something that made me furious or sad
tumblr_ma7bk904DZ1qz53j7.gif… And nobody to share them with.
  • No one understands my book references
Here’s the scenario: I’m with my friends we’re talking about random stuff, laughing, someone says something and I see an opening for me to insert a book related joke (Often Harry Potter obviously, which is basic and everybody should get) so I do it and I see them looking back at me like :
  • Going into a bookstore

This is a rare thing to begin with. So when I convince my friends to go into a bookstore with me, here’s me :

–                               anigif_enhanced-7492-1445874091-2   anigif_original-grid-image-20595-1445874218-18

And they’re all just looking at me thinking : “Can we go now ?”

  •    Saying that I read too much
First of all, there’s no such thing as reading too much ! Plus, who am I bothering with my reading anyway ? Tsss … People !
  • “Don’t you have something better to do ? “

tumblr_n0vdjbTlzZ1sa2xlto1_500.gifSo yeah no, nothing ! Since it is already the best thing in the whole entire galaxy and beyond.

  • Reading is boring.”

I never got it. Seriously how could it be boring ? You’ve been picking up all the wrong books my friend, it’s either that or …anigif_enhanced-buzz-6104-1376531078-11.gif

  • “Chill ! That’s just a fictional character.”
Another little scenario :

  • “Why read when you have movies ?”
First of all, what? Second of all WHAT ?

Or even worse, when someone (a “friend”) comes up to me and says : “The best books are made into movies anyways”anigif_enhanced-buzz-31346-1376578217-4.gifThat’s just it.

So yeah, there you go guys ! What we’ve all been thinking put into words (or gifs in this case)

That’s it until next time.

What are some of the things you face when you are when you are with your friends who don’t read ?

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.
