Little Peek #6 : June 2016

Hello guys !

I’ll start this wrap-up with a very cliché sentence that I’ll compel you to forget as soon as you read it, here is it: WHERE HAS THIS YEAR GONE ? How is it already June? It feels like I just started blogging a month ago but counting it’s been five months and is so crazy to me. *Now you forget*

LITTLE PEEK (5)

This has been an okay month reading wise. I managed to read 5 books which I am really proud of considering that for one it is Ramadan and also because I had my internship for 3 weeks and it was exhausting but also really good. So, let’s just say that reading -and by extension blogging- wasn’t a priority.

My previous little peek format isn’t fitting my needs anymore so I’m trying something new this month.

1

Lola and the Boy Next Door  3.5 stars

Like the first installment, the romance in this book is SO cute but it didn’t have me as invested and rooting as I was for Anna and St Clair. Probably because I wanted to smack Lola on the head through it all for her decision making skills ? I really felt bad for Cricket for everything she put him through.

Never, Never #2                        4 stars

This was as good as part 1 if not better. The suspens was CRAZY and I literally couldn’t put it down, I read it in one sitting without taking my eyes off of it for one single second. Things got confusing then got clear then confusing again.

Never, Never #3                    1 star

*gasps* “BUT FADWA, WHAT HAPPENED ?” That’s what you’re probably wondering since I just gave part 2 4stars but yeah, if you want to know how frustrated that ending made me and how anticlimactic everything was, take a look at my review.

A Darker Shade of Magic    4.5 stars

This book. THIS BOOK. It is so freaking great, most unique story and world building I’ve read in a while. Awesome magic. Well developed characters. Head-spinning action. JUST GO READ IT IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY *throws book at you* I know that I am late to this party but yeah, I’M IN GUYS !!!

Rebel of the Sands               1 star

Oh boy ! First of all this was a buddy read with my amazing friend and ranting buddy Fatima @ Noteable Pad, and let me just tell you, we didn’t like, not at all, not one bit. We had so many issues (MC, world building, writing …) with it that even the few good parts couldn’t save it for us.

2

Clockwork Princess 5 stars

Cress                            5 stars

Never, Never               3 stars

3

As you can see, not a lot of post this month, I’m also behind on visiting other blogs and answering comments but I have a 6 hours drive to my grandpa’s house next week to catch on all of this. Also, I’m done with all my graphics, now all my posts are happy little things.

I wanted to thank everyone who’s been SO responsive to #FMTM, your comments really made me very happy and I can’t wait to share more of my country with you all, SO another post (and many more after that) is to be expected in July introducing a new city, new outfit and YUMMINESS !!

That’s it until next time.

What books did you read in June ?

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.

My take on Memes and why I don’t do them as much anymore

Hello Guys !

If you are a book blogger or are familiar with what we do, you know all about the Top Ten Tuesdays, the Waiting On Wednesdays, the Top Five Wednesdays, Book Traveling Thursdays etc… They’re all over the blogosphere, so it is really hard to miss and if you’ve been following my blog for a little while you know that my participation to these memes has drastically dropped down for the past month or so, and I wanted to talk to you about the why. So without further ado, let’s dive in.

Unpopular (5)

1

So, before anything, let’s talk about these memes from a neutral point of view because I’m not here to bash them or anything, it is the opposite actually. We’ve had a very productive relationship and they’ve been good to me.

The pros :

1. It is a great way to jump start your blog

So, you’re new, intimidated by all the great blogs out there and don’t know where to start? Memes will be your bestfriends. You’ll have automatic posts for a few days of the week without having to stress over what to post.

2. It is ideal to interact with the community

Thanks to these memes, you’re very likely to find a lot of things in common with your fellow bloggers and will probably have unexpected friendships out of it, at least I know I did. Plus, for some reason, these are the posts that get the most interaction.

3. You’ll always have a back-up plan

Out there, there is a meme for everyday of the week. So if you’re in a blogging crisis either because you don’t have time to think up an idea or because the idea you were so very excited about didn’t work out, you needn’t worry, memes are here to save you.

4. You’ll always discover new books

If you’re like me and go through A LOT of memes, you know that you’re bound to discover new books ALL THE TIME and while my wallet hates you for it, I am so very grateful to every last one of you.

The Cons :

1. The memes can overshadow the other posts

I think this one is self-explanatory. If you do a gazillion memes a week and don’t have enough content to balance it that can actually let your personality shine through then your blog will quickly loose its originality.

2. Same books over and over again

I’ve definitely been guilty of this one, my #T5W consisted a lot of the times of very popular books that everyone knows about and that were also in a lot of other #T5W (because I was just catching up on popular books and I still am) so my post didn’t bring anything new to the table sometimes.

3- It starts feeling like a chore

We all know how blogging should always be a hobby and never have this unrequired weight that quickly turns it into an obligation. I realized that following memes religiously turned from “I want to do it” to “I have to do it” in a matter of a couple months which isn’t a good thing at all.

2

Now to what you’ve all been waiting for (Or is it just me ?), why I retracted a bit from doing my #T5W every and each week as I used to do before. Well, it is simple my friends and for a couple reasons.

First is that as I stated in the cons, it started feelings like work and I lost all pleasure in doing them because a lot of the topics I wasn’t interested in or I simply didn’t have enough books to talk about.

And also because I tend to post 3 times a week, 4 if I have some special post to add. And it’s either I gave up on posting the meme every week or I give up on doing Tags altogether which I really have so much fun doing. So, in my mind the choice was clear.

Last but not least, it is because I found my footing. I finally know which direction I want to take with my blog as well as how I want to handle it and I have A LOT of post ideas that I want to explore in the near future.

All of this being said, you’ll still see some sporadic meme posts on the blog if the subject speaks to me because memes are STILL a fun thing to do.

That’s it until next time.

What are your thoughts on Memes? Do you take part in them or keep your blog 100% original content?

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.

(From Goodreads)

Rating : 3 stars

Part 1: 4 stars             Part 2: 4 stars              Part 3:  1 star

Word Wonders (2)

The only thing I have room for in this head of mine right now is the firm belief that fate absolutely exists. Fate…soul mates…time travel…you name it. It all exists. Because that’s what her kiss feels like. Existence.

(No spoilers)

LORD HAVE MERCY ! This book made me so angry when I finished it and it does all over again each time I think of it again. And my awesome twinnie Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane Books (you can check out her review by clicking the link) whom I read it with can definitely agree on that. WHAT WAS THAT ENDING ? I was immensely disappointed in the direction that was chosen for this book, because it had so much potential to be something brilliant but at the end it was just a big puddle of bleeh. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, I’ll start from the beginning so that you can see all the emotions I wen through.

From page 1 the writing is very engaging and very addictive. It is quick and easy to fly through with chapters going back and forth between Charlie’s and Silas’ (the two MCs) point of view which is great because we get to be in both of their heads and see exactly what both of them think of the situation. The chapters are also fairly short which went perfectly with the fast pace that this book had. Oh, and even with all the shitiness that the characters go through, the book still managed to make me giggle at some points and ridiculous situations.

Never, Never has a very peculiar way of storytelling. Since our main characters both have complete memory loss we experience them going forward with their lives while trying to piece their past back together so we get both periods at the same time if that makes any sense haha. And oh my damn ! The more information they -we- get the more confusing everything gets and the more questions it raises, the suspense IS SO FREAKING GOOD, I can’t even begin to explain how it made me feel, I couldn’t put the story down, I needed to know more, what would happen next but most of all what happened before. That being said, the answers were far from being satisfying, it was the opposite actually. It didn’t live up to the build-up that was sustained throughout the whole story, it just fell flat and was a big bowl of bad quality cheese. SO CHEESY. One other problem that I had is how some elements that were used to enhance the mystery were left out when all was solved and those were some really BIG misleading hints. And the inconsistencies. They made me mad. Where is the logic in this: The guy is supposed to have amnesia, right? So how come when he watched a video of himself and Charlie he was able to describe his own feelings in a moment that HE HAS FORGOTTEN. I’m not that stupid to fall for it, thank you very much.

Characters wise, I liked Silas and kind of had mixed feelings about Charlie. The Silas we got to know is this smiley and very charming guy who’s very thoughtful and caring, but also pretty smart, since he’s the one who solved the mystery haha and untied some knots that they’ve encountered along the way. Charlie I started off disliking, she’s more closed off and harder to get emotions out of through the whole book, this is not the problem. At first, she was selfish and didn’t consider the impact that her actions had on Silas, and just like that, without any warning or development whatsoever she has a 180° change. She becomes this very cautious and trusting person when it comes to him. Again, INCONSISTENCIES.

These problems I had with Charlie’s personality don’t change the fact that I really liked their banter, it was so cute and sweet even with all odds against them. Their chemistry was there even when the feelings were off wondering to God knows where.

Top 5 Wednesday #15 : A Little Self-praise

Hello guys !T5W

So today is Wednesday, this means that it is time for me to do another T5W.  It is a weekly feature created By Lainey @ Gingerreadslainey with a different theme each week. It is hosted now by Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes. For more information, you can check the Goodreads group.

This week’s theme is: FAVORITE POSTS I’VE WRITTEN

That’s GREAT ! Just GREAT ! Perfect way to inflate a narcissist’s ego -like myself- more than it already is. I am thrilled. Okay, yeah. No. I’m really hard on myself when it comes to posting because the perfectionist that I am needs everything to be right, which let’s face it, rarely happens. But well, I still have some post that I cherish more than others. So without further ado, here are the posts:

2- MY GUIDE TO UNPOPULAR OPINIONS

Unpopular Opinions

Yet another rant, kind of ? Not really the purpose, but I still found a way to rant in this post ! It’s all about the guidelines, do’s and don’ts of unpopular opinions.

#FMTM : The Capital, Jellabas and Delicious Tagines

Hello guys !

I don’t know if many of you saw it, but a few weeks back, more exactly in my April Wrap-up, I run this idea by you, to start making posts about Morocco because a lot of people don’t know much about it. I got all positive responses. And I AM SO EXCITED – AND ALSO FREAKING OUT. Introducing : Follow me through Morocco. This will also be my humble participation to my twinnie aka Marie‘s Souvenirs From Across the World Project #SFATW.

FOLLOW ME THROUGH MOROCCO (1)

But first and foremost, what’s Morocco ? Well, my friends, Morocco is a country. Okay, just kidding, I’m back at it again with my lame humour. Sorry. Won’t happen again. (It most definitely will happen again) Morocco is a North-African Muslim Kingdom, bordering in the north the Mediterranean Sea, in the west the Atlantic Ocean, east is Algeria and south Mauritania. The  population is a blend of Arabs and Berbers (I’m a mix of both, YAY!) which makes Moroccan Arabic also called Darija (Da-ree-ja) and Berber (Amazigh) our official languages. Now that you know the basics, let’s get on with the post.

image001       Flag_of_Morocco.svg

Random Fact: Morocco was under French and Spanish protectorate from 1912 to 1956. That’s the reason for French being so widely spoken here. Spanish is only spoken in northern regions.

1You guessed it from the title. Rabat is our Capital but also the city I’ve been living in for 6 years now. It is separated from our neighbor-city Salé only by the Bouregreg river. I won’t bore you with facts about it hehe. Uncle Google can help with that, instead I’ll give you a little tour. There are so many beautiful places here.

The Old Medina

It’s the “Original” Rabat, the rest is just an extension of it. Like every Old Medina in Morocco, it is a maze, you most definitely want to go there with someone who knows their way around. It has a souk (Moroccan Market) in its depths, you can find every kind of shop their. Clothes shops – traditional and normal, leather shops, selling traditional shoes and bags, you can even watch the craftsmen making some if you’re lucky, jewelry shops, mostly selling gold and silver, others selling little pearl trinquets, food shops/food carts, spice shops, the infamous carpet shops and so on and so forth. It really has everything, oh, even some bookstalls, the books are usually beat up but you can find some little treasures.

  MG_3552-4

This last one is a very dear to my heart, because people like that don’t exist anymore. It is a man who has had his little bookshop for over 50 years and each time you’d pass by you’ll find him reading a book, undisturbed by the rest of the world.

Mohamed V mausoleum / Hassan Tower

Why did I combine them ? Because they’re on the same esplanade. The Mohamed V mausoleum contains the tombs of King Mohamed V – Our current King Mohamed VI ‘s grandfather – and his two sons, King Hassan II and Prince Moulay Abdellah but that’s not the reason I want you to visit it. I want you to come along with me to admire its magnificent architecture, it is done in the Arabo-andalou style that’s common to a lot of monuments in Morocco, it has the typical green tile roof that we call Qoba and its carving is so detailed and all done by hand, it is really impressive.

The Hassan tour is peculiar and unique in its own way, because it is the unfinished Minaret of what was supposed to be the largest and tallest mosque in the world in 1196. The construction stopped when it’s founder Yacoub Al Mansour died. There are a LOT of columns around it that were destined to the mosque that make for really cool picture props now.

Kasbah of Oudayas

It is very probably my favorite place in the city. It is a true little fortress on the bank of the Bouregreg river. And guess what? People actually live between its blue narrow streets, and the people are SO welcoming there. Aside from roaming the streets you can wander around the gardens and visit the museum of Moroccan Arts.

OH, and if you don’t sit to sip on some Moroccan Tea and eat our traditional sweets in the Café des Maures then all of this was for nothing, its view is beautiful and so relaxing and ideal for you fellow writers. But don’t go on the weekend if you’re looking for calmness, it gets super crowded, the upside to it is that you can even encounter Gnaoua who are traditional musicians and singers that you can see in a picture below.

The Museum of Modern Art

This is a fairly new addition to the city. The Museum was ushered in 2014 by our King and is near the Old Medina (Note: Everything I just talked about isn’t far away from the Old Medina). Displayed inside of it are pieces of modern art from Moroccan as well as International artists. If you ask me, the monument itself is a piece of art, it has the Moroccan traditional signature to it while still being modern. If you’re an art lover, this is a must visit, plus the entry fees are very cheap, between 20 and 40 dirhams which is like 2 to 4 dollars more or less.

There are plenty other places to visit in Rabat and this post would be never ending if I talk about them all.

2So, for us Muslims, it is now Ramadan. I thought what better time than to talk to you guys about Jellabas.

Jellabas are both men and women’s wear. Some of us wear them on a daily basis, generally older people, while others -including me- wear them only in some occasions, like religious holidays, or in this instance Ramadan to go to the mosque or see family. They are these long hooded dresses that can be really simple or very fancy that are handmade, usually tailored to the wearer’s style and wants, in all and any colors. Pictures speak better than words in situations like this one :

Here’s one last picture for the road, of me forever ago -2 years- in one of my Jellabas in the classiest way of picture taking, a mirror selfie :

2014-07-29 20.14.04.jpg

3The word stands for both the meal and the utensil, it is a staple in every Moroccan home, proof: These are only the ones we have at home.

20160612_171658-01.jpeg

Tajines are deliciousness that we eat with bread (homemade preferably) and WITH OUR HANDS, don’t you dare use a fork to eat it. You actually can if you’re not comfortable the other way around, but as we say “Half the taste is in the hand” and it is true, trust me, I know what I’m talking about. It is usually cooked with beef, sheep or chicken but sometimes other kinds of meat can be used. And any veggies you have at home can do the trick because the magic is in the spices (and the utensil). Dried fruits as well as nuts can be cooked in a Tagine too and that makes for more of a sweet-salty mix that you’d fall head over heels for if that’s your thing, and let’s face it, everyone loves it.

4Well, this is a rubric that I yet have to implement and I hope you guys want to be a part of it. I want you to ask all kinds of questions about the country, the culture, anything and everything that crosses your mind and I’ll be more than happy to answer them in the next post.

We’ve reached the end of today’s post and I really really hope you liked it and that this made you want to buy a ticket ASAP and come over for a visit.

And I wanted to ask, if any of my Moroccan readers want me to showcase their city and would like to help with the post just send me an email and I would be happy to do it.

sans-titre

That’s it until next time.

Did you ever visit Morocco ? If so, what cities ? And what was your favorite part of your holiday here ?

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.

(From Goodreads)

Rating : 5 stars

Word Wonders (1)

“Maybe great, epic romances don’t just happen. We have to make them ourselves.”

(No spoilers)

If Cinder and Scarlet were strong winds blowing my hair in all ways, this would be a hurricane, the mother of all tornados. Action, wittiness, pace, romance, this thing has it all. EVERYTHING.

In my opinion, if you ask me, if you ever happen to care what I think, Cress’s story is the closest to the original fairytale out of all the ones in the series I’ve read so far and maybe, possibly, my favorite one. Girl with crazy long hair trapped in a fortress by a woman, girl is saved by a “criminal”, girl goes on a wild journey with said criminal. You guessed it, it’s Rapunzel. The fact that Rapunzel is one of my favorite princesses may or may not have something to do with how much I loved this retelling. I think I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again, I love how the stories all criss-cross together  and in this case how Cress was swiftly added to the Rampion crew. The way she met with Thorne and they got to spend alone time together was a very smart idea *applause* , even if it is not ideal and very brutal, helped jumpstart the little romantic spark, though Carswell is dumb and can’t see his own feelings. It was a one way insta-love but it was perceived as such which didn’t make it annoying, it was just silly, cute and innocent.

As its predecessor, this book is action packed and very quick to go through. It is far from being a short book and I still managed to get through it in 2 sittings while still studying for my finals, this is just to tell you how addicting and fast paced it is. Each character brings new plot points and new things to the table, which means that things never get boring and now that I think about it even some parts that I thought were brushed off were clarified and everything made so much more sense.

62527907337dbcd0e4013ce4c6d4d285Okay, I don’t know if Scarlet is still my favorite out of the MCs (because yes Iko will forever be my favorite of EVER), we saw very little of  her in this installment while we a shit load of Cress, and I love her. She’s so quirky, shy – A FREAKING GENIUS- and her naivety and innocence are very funny to read about, that little girl vibe touched a soft spot in my heart. I hope we’ll get to see the kick-ass Scarlet back in the final book because I really missed her, and so I can FINALLY decide who my favorite is. As for Cinder, SHE’S ON FIRE, back to her old self that I am so fond of, brave, strong even with literally the whole world -and the moon- depending on her, and all the doubts it can bring. No biggy. No pressure.

Kai, oh very changed Kai ! I really love the growth he experienced from book 1. Though he was really sweet and humble, I thought he was a little too trusting and naive. Well, that is gone. The responsibilities that were thrown at him brought up a side of him that’s much appreciated, more mature and selfless. His reunion with Cinder MADE ME SQUEAL, nothing spectacular or even romantic, it made me laugh but just the fact that they were FINALLY in the same place was enough for me. Thorne is still my same old bae even with all the things that happen to him, he still puts on a brave face. And I am confessing my feelings now, I believe I never mentioned this, but he’s totally my boyfriend, deal with it. And his friendship with Cinder is #Goals. And I kind of ship him with Cress. And he’s just the most wonderful thing is this series *swoons*.

Throughout the book, we get to see a little bit of Winter and I can’t wait to read her own book because she’s going a little cray-cray and I want to see how that develops and what Meyer will make of it. Which made me think that quite a few things are foreshadowed that I didn’t grasp until reading this third installment.

One last thing I really like is that Cinder – the MC of all MCs – isn’t made the almighty, invincible person that can do everything on her own, without her group of friends she wouldn’t have made it very far which is a breath of fresh air from all the oh-so-perfect-can-slay-a-dragon-while-texting-and-painting-her-nails kind of MC. I can’t wait to read Winter because I don’t know how it can top this and I want to know if and how it will do so.

9 Bookish Tropes that I need as my Children

Hello Guys !

A while back, I posted a list of the book tropes that need to go away and I had so many people agreeing. I thought that since, last time, I ranted about things that infuriated me in books – and we all know how much I love doing that- it was only fair now that I show a little bit of love to those tropes that are doing it right and that would gladly raise as my own (legit !) and that we clearly DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH OF.

MY PERSONAL (8)

These are in no particular order.

1- Sibling-ships

Yeah, I know it’s not a word but I decided it was going to be one for this post’s sake. I love love LOVE stories about siblings, they are debatably my favorites to read. It may be because they’re rare or they may be because they last a whole lifetime. Proof of that is that I’ll Give You the Sun – aka one of my favorite books of all time – is about a set of twins.

2- Bestfriends to lovers

I’m a big romantic at heart even though I tend to deny it, so to me this evolution is the epitome of love. Knowing a person all too well and still loving them like that? Please GIMME ! They also tend to be the cutest and the most swoon-worthy, so excuse me if I do.

anigif_enhanced-buzz-6003-1376533711-31.gif

3- Flawed Main Character

I can never stress this enough. STOP. MAKING. PERFECT. MCs. A flawed MC means that we can relate and that it is okay to have quirks and make mistakes, it doesn’t make you unworthy of what you strive for. Oh, and while we’re at it, please make girls have their periods, everyone knows they’re there so just acknowledge them for heaven’s sake.

4- Villain is a Villain for the heck of it

I love ruthless villains who are just crazy that way. Maybe I am crazy that way too for wanting this? But what I mean is, to be bad, a person doesn’t necessarily need to have a tragic past, or some tortured secret. Some people are bad JUST BECAUSE, and those are the best to read about, because there’s no pity and we love to hate them.

ba086-i-love-you-and-hate-you-gif.gif

5- Involved Parents

Imagine this scenario: A teenager running out the door at 2am to go save the world and then wild parent appears (If you get the reference HIGH FIVE) and stops them. Is it the end of the world? No. You just have to work around curfew my friend. This scenario is like a unicorn, everyone talks about it but no one has actually seen it.

6- Platonic Relationships

I know I said I like the bestfriends to lovers trope so this may seem to you as a bit of a contradiction but it is not. As much as I am a sucker for the bestfriend getting the girl/the boy, I also want said girl or boy to be friends with people they meet along the way, why does it always have to be “falling in love with the person you meet in the beginning of the journey” ?

7- The Anti-Hero

I always end up having a crush on this one. He’s morally ambiguous, mysterious and doesn’t always draw the line between right and wrong. Sounds bad? Yeah but it isn’t. Or is it? I don’t know anymore, all I know is that I want more of this, whatever this is.

8- Unique character names

Is this considered a trope ? I don’t know but I’d like to think it is. I just love when authors put a lot of thought and effort into their character’s name, maybe even give it some bonus meaning or backstory, it adds a little “je ne sais quoi” that does the trick for me. The character has to be awesome too obviously.

9- Awkward First Interaction

Let’s see ! Does it seem real to you that when a person meets her love interest for the first time, talks to said potential lover and immediately feels the sexual tension and starts gushing? It doesn’t to me. I think that the more awkward it is the more hilarious it is the more I love it. I’m just putting it out there.

Clockwork Princess

“It was like I saw your soul in the notes of the music. And it was beautiful”

(No Spoilers)

Remember when I told you this trilogy gets better with each book ? I WAS RIGHT ! This book is a phenomenal sequel and finale to Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince. How? Just how can be this be the perfect ending, everything I wanted to happen and break my heart at the same time? After finishing it, I just couldn’t think straight, couldn’t deal with all the feelings it brought up. I couldn’t do anything but crawl into a corner and stare at the ceiling. Well, that and sleep because it was 2am.

This book was equally hilarious and heart wrenching, I was sobbing and snorting at the same time, choking on my tears and laugh, okay I’ll stop, you got my point. One thing I regret A LOT is that I read this after TMI, I SPOILED MYSELF !!!! So I knew a particular thing -Jem related- that was coming miles away from it actually happening, and though it broke me, I feel like it would’ve made more damage if i didn’t expect it. Damn you Fadwa !

What I love about these books is that they always have more to offer, something new to discover. So many things happened throughout this book, it is crazy. So many things were left to be solved in this and it was done amazingly, nothing was rushed, nothing was overlooked, everything fell into place when it was supposed to and that was impressive to read. Tessa grew up to embrace her power and get the most use out of it and you know what I’m talking about ! HOLY SHIT ! I admired her 10 times more for her sacrifice when there was no escaping Mortmain’s claws. Oh and Mortmain, that man is mad, and kind of a genius. But still mad. The kind of mad you never want to encounter in your life. He’s ruthless and there’s no making sense of his action. I loved everything that went down for the main plot to be resolved, each thing that previously happened made sense once the whole picture was drawn.

75f07e8d1607c27065bc3bee7fd61467.jpg

And don’t even get me started on the little subplots. I ADORED how the love triangle was handled so that everyone got their little share of happiness as well as every reader if you ask me. Will’s family issues too were managed greatly as well AS EVERYTHING ELSE. kfgkjgfkddv  kdhgdl. Okay, sorry I got carried away. And the ships. So many of them. It’s crazy. I loved every little couple/potential couple, they all had chemistry and their little quirks that made them all special.

Oh, and I have a little confession to make: When a certain person got decapitated I was folded in half from laughing. Does that makes me a sadistic? Probably. But my hate for him run deep. Very deep.

THAT LAST CHAPTER. THAT EPILOGUE. I teared up, I really did. They were EVERYTHING. Especially because that epilogue was a mashup between TMI and TID. I was so so emotional reading them. Not only were they the end of this -and let’s be honest, I wasn’t ready- but they also had everything, from heartbreaking, fœtal position inducing moments, to heart-mending, joyful ones.

I won’t bore you with character details. I already talked about them from all the angles, they could’ve been talked about. All I can say is that I really came to love Gideon and Gabriel even though the latter’s intentions were really questionnable. And also, Cecily was a nice addition to the cast, she’s so similar to Will, that their interaction always resulted in funny banter.

To sum things up, this book was so satisfying and I got out of it thinking that family isn’t necessarily blood, family is the people that care about you the most, and you can choose those. It is a little philosophical, I know but it truly what happened throughout the course of the story.

Up there I give you the combination of the three new book spines, and along with that, z lot of feels.

Award #8: Most Relatable Award Ever

Hello Guys !

Today’s award is a MAJOR throwback because it was the first ever award I’ve done on my blog, on my first week here or something and now it’s been more than 4 months, how can that be? Anywho, it is the Book Fangirling Award round 2 for which I’ve been nominated by two lovely bloggers who are Carrianne @ Carrianne’s Cuppa’n Critiques and Lila @ The Bookkeeper’s Secret, thank you so so much !

Fangirling.png

The rules :

  • Create a post to accept your award.
  • Answer the questions at the end.
  • Nominate 5 – 10 bloggers who you think also deserve this award.
  • Come up with your own 5 questions for your nominees.

Carrianne’s questions :

1. If you could steal a character’s clothes, whose would you steal?

Why do you do this to me? THIS IS SO HARD. Oh, oh… I know ! In a hypothetical world, it would be Isabelle Lightwood from The Mortal Instruments. I don’t think I need to explain it any further, I love how she’s always stylish and she owns what she wears.

fe5a1b61c0748a6a0f64fa462c62c534.jpg

2. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?

Seriously? Seriously Carrianne? *sobs* Why do you hate us so much? This question is just cruel, so I’ll choose a series AND a book. Harry Potter (DUH!) and I’ll Give you the Sun, predictable I know hehe.

3. What trope would you like to see more in books?

Mmm… Best Friends to Lovers, for sure. It may not seem like it but I am a sucker for all things swoony in books and to me, there is nothing that can do it more than getting out of the friendzone haha. If you have any recommandations for books like that, GIMME!

4. Favorite bookish loot? If you don’t have any, then favorite book cover?

I don’t have either haha, I love so many book covers, I’m undecisive like that. But a series that I really love the covers for is the Firebird series. I haven’t read it yet but I think I’ll get to it very soon.

5. Which scene would you like to be apart of and in what book?

It would either be a fight scene, like the one in the rooftop of the castle from Cress or a very emotional one, like Luke and Jocelyn’s wedding in City of Heavenly Fire. Oh God ! Just thinking of it, all my feelings are coming back!

Lila’s questions :

1. If you could dye your hair any color, which color would you choose?

Dark Red. I’m dying to do it but I don’t know if I’ll pull it off so I’m staying away haha. I have highlights in that color but I want to make it more of an ombre effect.

2. What’s your favorite season and why?

Fall hands down. It is not too hot, but it is still warm enough and I loved playing with my clothes and cozying up and reading. I just love it.

3. Who are three of your favorite characters, what Hogwarts house do you think they would be in, and why?

Simon LewisThe Mortal Instruments : He would be a Ravenclaw (My house, YOUHOO !) because I said so. No, but seriously haha, it just fits because he’s intelligent and witty.

YaelWolf by Wolf : She would fit in Gryffindor. She’s the bravest, most badass character I’ve read about, though she can be reckless sometimes, but all for a good cause.

Mark Watney The Martian : That guy would be a Slytherin, do you see it too? He’s driven and very resourceful. I don’t know what more to say, if you read the book, you can hopefully see it. (Or am I imagining it ?)

4. What’s a song that makes you just wanna dance?

One Dance and Hasta El Amanecer MashupAlex Aiono

5. What’s one of your quirkiest traits?

Uum… oh, I cannot for the life of me live in a messy room. I had a friend over last week and she was shocked at how tidy my room is haha.

My questions :

  1. If you could live in any fictional world, which one would it be ?
  2. What’s a book character that everyone loves that you hate ?
  3. Who’s your favorite superhero ?
  4. What book truly left a mark on you ?
  5. Which author’s writing you can’t seem to get into ?

My Nominees :

Fatima @ Noteable Pad

Ara @ The Bookish Agenda

Kevin @ Bookevin

Ali @ The Bandar (B)log

Kamilah @ The Bookish Mirage

8 Struggles I face as a reader

Hello Guys !

Today is Monday June 6th, what does that mean ? It means that I’m back -for real this time- YAY ! These past few days, since I finished my finals, I sucked at basically everything I wanted to do, meaning hibernating and reading. I haven’t read a book in 5 days, WHAT? Well, not my fault, I swear! I was either out being a social person or exhausted.

So, onto today’s topic. What better way to return to you beautiful potatoes than to post a lovely rant? It’s not exactly a rant, but more like a desperate call for help. I’ll be talking to you about the struggles I face every single day as a reader because of several factors:

  1. Living in a country that’s not very big on promoting reading.
  2. Living in a non-English speaking country.
  3. Living in a country where most online stores don’t ship.
  4. BEING A READER.

MY PERSONAL (3)

 1. Finding books at “Bookstores”

Yes, “Bookstores” because I hate them from the bottom of my heart. They don’t have English books, and even the French books collections are very limited. So, unless you are very lucky and find a buried store that sells used books then you’re screwed. Just. Like. Me. If any of my Moroccan readers know of any bookstore of that sort, PLEASE TELL ME. I’ll pay you with food. It’s Ramadan, so I know you want it. Hehe.

2. Buying books online

I think I’m cursed. And I know I’ve said this like a gazillion times but it’s really a pain in the butt: Most online stores don’t ship here, so WHAT CAN A GIRL DO ? My last resort is purchasing e-books. So, next time I hear anyone say that people who read e-books aren’t “real reader” I’LL PHYSICALLY FIGHT YOU. I’ll hunt you down and come after you. You’ve been warned.

3. Not enough time

This one, I know EVERYONE can relate to, if you don’t, are you okay? Are you even still alive?  The amount of books we want to read is crazy -and no I don’t have a problem thank you very much-  and just a little 24 hours, 365 days to do it and ALL the other life stuff, HOW? But I’m confident we’ll find a way.

4. Not enough money

I’m 100% sure that even if I was a millionnaire, I’d still have this problem. Because books beat everything. We are hoarding monsters, we always want more. There will always be more books than all the money in the world can afford. And don’t even try to deny it. Sh…sh… you know I’m right.

5. Finding a fellow hardcore bookworm

I do a happy dance when this happens. That’s how rare it is. It is sad I know, but people her are not very big on reading and finding a person like me is like finding a gold mine. Enough said.

6. The dilemma of books I don’t like

Do I DNF it? Or do I push through? As you may or may not know, I don’t DNF books much so I tend to choose the latter but I recently realized that my tolerance towards those books is decreasing as endless amounts of books get in my radar.

7. The stress of a book to movie adaptation

Especially if it’s a favorite ! What if they do it wrong? What if they ruin the book? What if they leave too many things out? THAT’S TOO MUCH STRESS TO PUT ON ME. And if they do mess it up then all hell breaks loose.

anigif_enhanced-14390-1445883039-3.gif

8. Finding the perfect reading position

That thing is a myth. I’m telling you ! There’s no perfect reading position. Everyone of them becomes painful after a little while. The question is, why is my body being a little bitch? Why can’t it handle it and let me read in peace?

I’m sure I have a lot more things to complain about but I decided that that is it for today’s post because if I keep it going I won’t stop haha.

That’s it until next time.

What are some of your struggles as a reader?

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.
