Tag #39: The Bookish Naughty List

Hello friends!

TIS THE SEASON ! Yeah, no I’m just kidding, beside it including my birthday, this time of the year is like any other to me because I don’t celebrate any Holiday BUT! There’s the New Year in a couple days so… HAPPY NEW YEARS!! Anyway, I’ill stop rambling nonsense. I was tagged a couple weeks ago by the lovely Lara @ Words With Lara and the awesome Theo @ Reading and Rambling to do The Bookish Naughty List and it sounds like so much fun that I thought I would shuffle things around in my blogging schedule and insert it. Plus, it’s kind of a seasonal, christmasy tag to there’s really no other time to do it. Thanks you!

The Rules:

  • Tag & link the person who tagged you
  • Tag the Creator (A page of Jenniely)
  • Tick/cross off the ones you’ve done
  • Tag another 10 people!

The Questions:

1. Have you received an ARC and not reviewed it

…Yep. I usually am adamant on reviewing each an every arc I receive and most cases when I don’t I either end up not reading the book, or DNFing it pretty early on so I think a review would be more unfair than anything else. There’s one case of this book I received (unsollicited) MONTHS ago that I still have to read…Oops? It’s sapphic though so I KNOW I will read and review it eventually but I just kee getting distracted by AAAAALL the other books.

2. Do you have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley?

HAH NO! I stress way too much if it goes anywhere near 70% ad it hasn’t been lower than 80% since march probably. I have been able to keep it over 90% the last three months. How I do that you ask? I’m really picky with what I request to be honest. I try to shoot for my most anticipated releases or books I’ve seen people I trust talk about, that way I know I will get to them ASAP and not drag reading them forever and ever until the end of times.

3. Have you rated a book on goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did)

Naah, I know when I first start a book whether I will be reviewing it or not so if I say a review is coming, A REVIEW IS COMING. Otherwise I just write a few lines with my general thoughts and go on my way. I might take a day, a week or a month or two (when I have a monster backlog or when the book won’t be released for a while) but when I commit I do it!

4. Have you folded down the page of a book ?

Yep! Eventhough I don’t do it much and would rather use bookmarks I don’t really feel bad about folding pages when it’s necessary. I’d rather not. But it’s whatever.

5. Have you accidentially spilled on a book?

NO. I never drink anything while reading, EVER. I don’t even eat to be honest. Unless it’s chocolate. So yeah that never happened to me. ALTHOUGH, lmao, scratch that. I actually spilled water all over my uncle’s book when I was 13. I was reading it late at night and went to put it aside in the dark but knocked a glass of water over it instead.

6. Have you DNFed a book this year?

OF COURSE! I don’t DNF that much but I think I DNFed around 5 books this year. I usually push through as best as I can, but if it’s not doing it for me then it’s not and I don’t have the time nor the patience to sit through a book I’m not liking. The only reason I don’t DNF a book I’m disliking is if 1/ It has redeemable aspects and 2/ I’m planning to write a critical review on it.

7. Have you bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it?

Nope. I never do that to be honest because we don’t have English bookstores here so I never just “come across” books. All the books I get I’m really interested in reading and I’m really picky with those as well because it can get pretty expensive and I’d rather not spend money on something I won’t read.

8. Have you read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework)?

HAHA! Who hasn’t? I’m pretty good at doing things when I’m supposed to do them but man, sometimes I just do not care for anything but reading and I end up faceplanting on the couch and reading for hours instead of studying.

9. Have you skim read a book?

Actually no, never. My brain just doesn’t compute with skimming.

10. Have you completely missed your Goodreads goal?

I’ve only done it two years but no I’ve actually always surpassed it by at least a dozen books. I tend to set it at a realistic goal for me with room for wiggle and slumps as to not stress myself out.

11. Have you  borrowed a book and not returned it ?

NO! I hate when people do that to me so I would never doing to someone else.

12. Have you broken a book buying ban?

ONCE. I don’t do book buying bans because I don’t buy many (physical) books to begin with and when I don’t have moneny for books… I don’t have money for books and that’s that haha. But there was this one time at the beginning of the year where I had some extra money and was like NOPE I WON’T USE IT ON BOOKS. Guess what I did? Got four books!!!

13. Have you started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about?

Nope, I’m a perfectionnist and cannot leave a thing undone. I NEED to finish the things  I start especially if it’s a review otherwise I lose my train of thoughts and that’s a pet peeve of mine. There’s also the fact that even if that happens I always take notes for all the books I read so I’d be good coming back to the review after a while. I’d just have trouble picking up where I left off.

14. Have you ever written in a book you were reading?

I don’t think I physically can write in books. I mean, I don’t see anything wrong with that and I WISH I could do it because I get lots of feels and thoughts when I read but I JUST CAN’T.

14. Have you ever finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads?

Nope. I track my reading religiously.

I tag:

I’m gonna tag 10 of my newest followers because I really want to interact with new people on here. Don’t feel obligated to do it though ❤

That’s it until next time.

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.

  1. I liked reading this post. I also don’t drink while I read. I buy books I intend to read, not just to look at the cover and I don’t DNF many books, but sometimes, well, it can’t be helped. I try to only read books I will at least like or love. Books are a place to relax and learn. It helps me with my stress.

  2. Thanks for tagging me, Fadwa ☺ I rarely DNF a book. I think the only one I DNFed this year was The Bone Witch but I hope to get back to it again in the future because I’m all for second chances with books 😄 I actually skim read plenty of times especially when the story gets dragging. And I’m guilty of reading something and forgetting to add it on Goodreads.
Enjoyed reading your answers and thanks again for tagging me!

      • I certainly had a hard time with the pacing of the story which was probably I didn’t finish it.
I do miss something whenever I skim-read haha so I would just read back to where I started skimming. I’m trying to work on refraining from skim-reading tho
