Word Wonders’ Reading and Blogging Round up – 2017

2017 Round up.png

Hello friends !

I know, I KNOW this post is like a month and a half late BUT as we all know, I was on hiatus in January so really, there wasn’t any other time I could’ve posted it. This year was amazing blogging and reading wise, my blog growth was steady, I read great books, blogged about them and about other topics that are dear and near to my heart, etc etc. I don’t have much else to say haha (a first, I know) so without further ado, let’s dive into this year’s summary.

Here’s the one from last year if you fancy a comparaison.1

General Stats

  • Number of visits: 25.269
  • Number of unique visitors: 13.950
  • Number of WP followers: 1.228

Most popular Posts

*I wrote this one in 2016 but it got ten times the attention it got then. Literally.

Apparently y’all love negative reviews lol.

My Favorite Posts

Book bloggers I discovered and loved

Mariam @ Mariam’s Yummy Books – Rea @ Dead Writers’ Club – Laura @ Green Tea & Paperbacks – Lili @ Utopia State of Mind – Romie @ Romie We Deserve Love – Wendy @ What the Log had to Say – Janani @ The Shrinkette – Angharad @ Two Book Thieves. – May @ Forever and Everly

(I’ll make it my mission this year to discover new blogs because we all knows how much I sucked at keeping up with the blogosphere in 2017)

2Classic me, I gave up on the reading challenge I was doing haha. I was doing the diversity bingo challenge but then gave up on it near the end of the year because 1/ I can’t afford to buy books to complete it and 2/ I started seeing a few issues with the concept and wasn’t comfortable with it anymore.

General Stats

  • Number of Books read: 78 (GR says 74 but I’ve read a few unpublished thingies)
  • Number of re-reads: 2 (Six of Crows – I Wish You All the Best Ben De Backer)
  • Number of pages: 22.088
  • Average rating: 3.8 stars
  • Top 3 Genres: Contemporary (31) – Fantasy (18) – Romance (12)
  • Series Completed: 2 (I’ve done worse than I thought omg)

Favourite Books

I made a post dedicated to them so you can find them here. And let me tell you, I had the HARDEST time narrowing it down and I clearly did a poor job at keeping it to a reasonnable number.

Disappointing Books

Favourite new authors/ new to me

  • Stacey Lee
  • S. A. Chakraborty
  • C. B. Lee
  • Becky Albertalli
  • Sabaa Tahir

Favourite Covers

Books with Beautiful Prose

Funnily enough the 3 books with the best covers are the 3 books with the most beautiful prose.

Books that made me laugh

Book that made me cry

Aisha Saeed - Written in the StarsReview

Book with #Squadgoals

C. B. Lee - #1 Not your Sidekick

Books with my OTPs

  • Jay and Maria from Hold Me.
  • Daisy and Molly from Second Kiss.
  • Elias and Laia from An Ember in the Ashes (and they’re not even together in this book).
  • Rhy and Alucard from A Conjuring of Light.

I noticed that I don’t ship as much as I used to haha. I mean, couples in books are cute and all but they rarely leave a lasting impression.

Mendatory Reading for everyone

Randa Abdel-Fattah - When Michael Met Mina

That’s it until next time.

How Did your Reading and Blogging year go?

How Many Books Did you Read? And Which Books belong in these categories for you?

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.

  1. Oh hi! 2017 was such a shit blogging year for me – both in terms of motivation and ability, and I’m rooting for a better 2018 for all of us. I love this round-up, and I’m excited for all the things you’ll bring us this year. 🙂

  2. 2017 was crazy, mostly because i read like 160!!! books which for me is a record! 😛
i’ve heard such mixed reviews about there’s someone inside your house, i brought it as soon as i can because i loved her anna and the french kiss series but i’m not too sure about this one!!
i also 100% ship elias and laia and i can’t wait for a reaper at the gates when it comes out this year 🙂

    • Omg that’s such an amazing number, i hope most of them were great!
I loved that series as well but i think horror is unfortunately not the genre for her :/
I’ve been holding off reading Torch until closer to Reaper’s release date.

      • yeah, I’ve heard she should stick to contemporary 😛
ahhh, not gonna lie to you I didn’t like the second book (torch agains the night), it was nowhere near as good as the first one but I’m still holding hope that reaper is going to be amazing!! 🙂

  3. Congratulations on reading so much and on great blogging stats for this year as well, that’s so great 🙂
I have read and loved The Forbidden Wish so much, can’t wait to read Under A Painted Sky and Wild Beauty, both sound amazing 🙂

  4. Wow 74-78 books! I finished about 64 by the end of the year. That is my best recorded yet. I think contemporary fiction (often romance) was one of the largest, supernatural suspense, fantasy, historical book, etc…

  5. Looks like you got a lot said and done, so definitely congrats on that! It’s so cool that your blog growth was steady 🙂
Also, I really like the way you split up the books in categories at the end. Happy blogging/reading/living 2018!!

Fadwa i aspire to be as late as you with posting honestly XD ughhh i hated there’s someone inside ur house it was so disappointing honestlyyyyy like it didn’t even leave any impact on me and it was rushed to be honest. lmao idk but i was searching once and then into google i wrote “why is rebel of the sands problematic” and then ur review was the first to come up. when i first read the book, as a muslim myself, i was really unaware and there was just SOMETHING I hated about the book and mythical part but i couldnt put my finger on it. i realted to ur review so so so much and yeah. i love how ur popular posts are all about diveristy because i am here for thatttt

    • I’m late and i own up to it 😂
I didn’t eeeeven finish there’s someone inside your house, i just couldn’t put myself through that.
Tbh i hate Rebel of the Sands with passion. I don’t think there’s any other book i’ve read that reaches that level for me, especially since people DO NOT LISTEN and keep hyping it up. Sigh.
Ahhh thank you, I’m lowkey proud of that 🙈💖

  7. Omgggg I’m so honored to be included in the list of bloggers you found & loved!! That means so much to me. 😭😘 Also yes!! Wild Beauty had SUCH a beautiful outside and inside — I’m in love with all of Anna-Marie’s book uggghh. (And all her covers let’s be honest. 😂😍) Also I love that all your popular posts are about diversity and I will 100% be checking them out! Great post ❤
