5 Star Predictions: Authors I know and Love

predictions 2

Hello friends!

I’m back with another post where I go through my TBR and try to -hopefully, accurately- guess what books I will be giving 5 stars to, once I get around to reading them (In 2180 maybe). From the books, I ended up picking last month, I read three: The Hate U Give, The Astonishing Color of After and The Poppy War and GUESS WHAT, they all ended up being 5 stars read. The other five, I still haven’t read for one reason or the other, most of which are valid, but I will get to them…eventually. For this post though, I will be going with authors I already know and love and whose books I’m picking sound like something I will fall head over heels for.

This…is a pretty eclectic collection of books I must admit. One thing they have in common though is that these are all some of my all-time favourite authors.

If you’ve been following my blog since the start, you know that there was this period of this where I was OBSESSED with the Shades of Magic trilogy, and it’s still one of my favourite series til this day but I somehow haven’t picked up anything by V. E. Schwab since then. Vicious is right up my alley though, villains? Friends turned ennemies? Superpowers? Uuuh. Why haven’t I read this yet? Then we have Ivy Iberdeen’s Letter to the World by Ashley Herring Blake, I admittedly haven’t read it yet because I’m kind of intimidated by Middle Grade books. Most my friends love them and I’m scared I won’t, but my favourite author is a good place to start. I have yet to rate her books less than 5 stars.

Now to romance books, aka the genre I am absolutely trash for, aka the only genre that manages to get me out of any slump or funk or the like. Wanna Bet? by Talia Hibbert sounds just like THE book of hers that will end up snatching those 5 stars from me, it’s best friends to friends with benefits to lovers with a heroine who’s jaded and reluctant to love. YES PLEASE. I’m a noob when it comes to Historical fiction, I’ve never read a book in that genre and have no idea why. BUT, I’m planning on fixing that soon with one of Courtney Milan‘s masterpieces, I love her writing so freaking much and The Duchess War sounds so angsty and fast paced.

The books in this section are all unreleased as of yet. I’m pretty sure literally NO ONE is surprised King of Scars  by Leigh Bardugo made it onto this list, I am a Six of Crows hoe, the characters in that series mean the entire universe to me and you know who means almost as much to me as Inej? NINA! And she has a POV in this book so I’m just bound to love it. That being said I need to uhh…read the Shadow and Bone trilogy first (which I’m reading the first book of this month hopefully). Ruse is the sequel to Want by Cindy Pon and it’s also one of the best sci-fi books I’ve ever read, and considering how everything ended in that one AND that this one is going to be from Lingyi’s POV aka my sapphic geeky heroine, I can’t not love it.

These last two books I have Arcs of and I’m reading both of them this month so THEY BETTER NOT DISAPPOINT. Again, if you’ve been following me for a year, you know I was obsessed with Love, Hate and Other Filters by Samira Ahmed at this time in 2017 so when I heard of Internment, its premise and just how important it’s going to be, I had a feeling it’ll become a favourite and that feeling just keeps on getting stronger. Last but not least, is Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid, which I’m actually currently reading and so far so good, it’s seems like I’m on the right track to adoring this book, it’s giving me the same vibes as The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo with the famous world setting and all that.

That’s it until next time.

Have you rated any of these books 5 stars?

What are some books on your TBR you think will be 5 star reads for you?

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.

  1. I read every novel – and a lot of novellas – Courtney Milan has published, and The Duchess War + her contemporary NAs are my favorites by her, so I really hope you’ll love TDW. The women of the Brothers Sinister series are so bloody amazing. I love Talia Hibbert too – and Wanna Bet was so good!! Next I’m reading Merry Inkmas by her, and I just know I’ll love it, she never disappoints. I’m SO EXICTED for Ruse and Daisy Jones and the Six – haven’t read so much by these authors, but the books I did read convinced me to put them on my auto-buy list. Also, I thought I was the only one who haven’t read the Shadow and Bone books haha – I love SoC, and really badly want to read King of Scars, but I’m pretty sure I shouldn’t without SaB. Planning on tackling it soon-ish. Great post! 🙂

    • I loved Merry Inkmas so much!! My favourite by her though is Sweet on the Greek, I am OBSESSED with it! Daisy Jones was somewhat of a letdown for me personally and I’m still not over it, I ended up only rating it 3 stars. Thank you for reading!

  2. Ashley Herring Blake is one of my fave authors so I think I’d give Ivy Aberdeen 5 stars too (however, i’m also a little intimidated by it being middle grade)! This was such a fun post, I hope you end up loving all of these 🙂

  3. I loved this post, Fadwa. I have not read these books, but I did read Six of Crows and it is a 5-star book. I think Crooked Kingdom should be a 5-star read. Brain on Fire might be a 5-star read? A scary non-fiction read at any rate. I could go on, but I will stop here.

  4. I LOVE Talia Hibbert, I haven’t read Wanna Bet yet, but I’m hoping to get to it soon! I’ve heard so many good things about Courtney Milan too, I can’t believe I haven’t read anything by her yet, I need to fix that soon.

    • I’ve heard all of Talia’s books save for Princess Trap, Wanna Bet and Undone for the Ex-Con haha, which I’m probably getting to in the next couple months, I really want to have them all read by the time her next book releases. And yes please do!! Courtney Milan’s books are AMAZING, they got me back into romance.

  5. I mean yes king of scars is going to be just wow, I can’t wait to read about Nina again like what the heck the thought of it makes my heart want to explode out of its chest because she’s my favourite. but I didn’t like the shadow and bone trilogy that much. like i adored the first book but siege and storm was boring and then i dnfed ruin and rising…but I hope you like it, I guess (?) (it’s nowhere near as good as six of crows!!) and I have had vicious on my shelves for so long and I need to read it because I know I’ll love it because lbr, it’s SCHWAB.

  6. Vicious is definitely a 5 star read! I almost didn’t read it because it didn’t sound like my type of book, but it was Schwab so I gave it a go. Vengeful is also a 5 star read, but I’m sure you’ll discover this after you read Vicious and continue on 🙂
