I’m not sure if I hate life or if life hates me. I SO did not mean to disappear completely this month and for that I apologize but this month was a HOT MESS so buckle up for a lengthy wrap-up.
Remember how I said last month that June was going to be my winding down and self-care month after the wild blogging month I had in May? Well… that failed. Miserably. June was mentally rough and exhausting and just…not good at all. I want it wiped from my memory. And the weird thing is that it was very similar to how I felt exactly a year ago. My mental health was just in a downward spiral, which I’ll spare you the details of. I also have a lot of things going on in my personal life that made everything worse and just… eventhough I’m still not doing great at the moment, I’m doing better and I’m just glad June is over.
On top of that, my laptop has been without internet for over a month and ONLY got fixed yesterday, which is the real reason I disappeared. For some reason, my laptop didn’t pick up the wifi at my house but picked up EVERY OTHER one just fine and since I was busy most days and could only blog in the evenings, I couldn’t really go out and do it all at a coffeeshop, and to be frank, with my mental health the way it was, I’m not sure I would’ve even wanted to go out for that. And I’m not sure I would’ve kept up with blogging either if I had functioning internet *nervous laughter* . I also haven’t uploaded to Youtube in three weeks. Well. Before yesterday.
This all just means that I fell EXTREMELY BEHIND on all blogging things, and let’s not talk about all the reviews I still need to write. Even the bloghopping and comment replying I was planning on doing didn’t happen… so it’s safe to say I’m a champ blogger at the moment. And THIS IS STRESSING ME OUT! I hate falling behind and I’ve been so good at avoiding it thus far this year. But alas, shits happen.
Honestly, the only two positive things I can think of that happened this month are related to The Fever King. The first is that THE FEVER KING GOT A WEBCOMIC ON WEBTOON AAAAAHHHH!!! (Just type the title on there and it’ll show up) The first three episodes went up last Saturday and I devoured them and adored them so much. The second is that I’m reading The Electric Heir, which is the sequel coming out in 2020 and I’m in an eternal internal screaming mode, MY CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!
Title = goodreads page
I have successfully read ONLY queer books in June, I have NOT successfully read my whole TBR. I read 10 books though so that’s good, but since I wasn’t blogging I expected to read more than usual but,,, apparently not.
- Her Royal Highness – f/f royal romance, cute, fun.
- Into the Drowning deep – Creepy mermaids, amazing, gore & death.
- The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics – My new all-time favourite sapphic romance.
- Hot Dog Girl – Bad Bi Tropes, lost potential.
- This is What it Feels Like – Messy teens, messy friendships, brilliant.
- Tell Me How you Really Feel – Gave me all the feels.
- The Music of What Happens – Couldn’t care less about anything.
- Better Off Red – Steamy, sapphic vampires, hella dramatic.
- Summer Bird Blue – Grieving & angry teen, aroace questioning.
- Kings, Queen & In-Betweens – Lesbian teen introduced to Drag, amazing.
If you want to know more about my opinions on any of these books, watch out for my wrap-up, which will be up on my Youtube channel SOON.
You can find my YARC 2019 progress post here. I read 2 BOOKS that fit the challenge this month!
Of course, since I was away all month, there will be no review or post link-ups. The only two posts that managed to go up are:
- MUSLIM VOICES RISE UP – Advice to my Younger Muslim self
- #DiverseBookBloggersDiscuss: Writing a Biracial Identity
This month I’m HOPEFULLY getting my shit together. For real. I still need to work on my blog schedule for July because I didn’t know when I’d be able to start posting again so I couldn’t make it but I’ll work on that at some point today and things should go back to normal starting next week. So, hopefully my 4 posts a week and if not that then 3. I’ll probably be starting with My anticipated releases for the second half of 2019, because I usually post that in the middle of June but it obviously didn’t happen.
I also have at least 4 videos to film for my channel, which I’m getting to film the minute I hit publish on this post, and will try to dedicate Sunday to replying to comments and maybe also blog hopping, but considering I have…a lot of comments to reply to, I’m not sure that will happen. I honestly just have to catch up with everything I fell behind on and things should go back to running smoothly. Fingers crossed I can get it all done in the upcoming week and get back in the groove of things.
Me being late on life is the theme of this wrap-up SO, my video TBR isn’t up yet which means I’m reverting to my old TBR style for this month alone.
If anyone judges me on reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo AGAIN, I’m gonna be big mad (judge me if you want, i deserve it tbh). I also technically already finished Gideon the Ninth and started The Black Veins so YAY!
That’s it until next time.
Did you read any of these books? What did you think of them? What books did you read this month?
Oh! And if you have any posts you think I should check out, leave them in the comments.
Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.
