WORD WONDERS’ TBR EXPANSION : Books with Pansexual main characters

Hello friends! and belated…Happy Pride Month? 🌈

Not like I need one, but I’m using this time of the year as an excuse to finally put together a list of books with pansexual and or panromantic main characters. Now I’m not too happy with this list. Why? you ask. Because it was by far the hardest to put together, I had to dig and dig and dig and even then I was only able to get together less than 40 books, most of which are NOT YA. Young Adult is severely lacking in pansexual representation and its about time it gets its act together and starts feeding us. And the only reason that adult books are better is because most of them are either indie or self-published. So traditional publishing as a whole is very behind on this one. So hey, trad pubs? DO. BETTER.

WORD WONDERS’ TBR EXPANSION : 100+ books by Muslim authors

Tags (1)

Hello friends and Ramadan Mubarak!

Years ago, I wrote these two posts called Why don’t I see Myself? and Muslim representation I want more of, where I was basically talking about Muslim main characters barely existing in YA and when they did, how they all fit the same mold. I am happy to say now, that even though we still have a long way to go, I finally feel like we’ve reached a point where my complaints in those posts are fading little by little and I don’t feel them intensely anymore. Because since then, I’ve read some brilliant books by Muslim authors from different walks of life and whose experiences differ a lot.

WORD WONDERS’ TBR EXPANSION : Books with Aro-spec main characters |Aromantic Awareness Week

Tags

Hello friends!

I’ve been meaning to make this post for months upon months now, probably over a year. But then when I realized there was an actual Aromantic Awareness week, and thought it would be the perfect time to make a list compiling books that feature main characters on the Aromantic spectrum. Aromantic awareness week spans from February 17th to the 23rd so today is the first day and here I am with a list of over 30 books featuring characters on the Aromantic spectrum. If you all didn’t know, hello! I am grayromantic and hence why this week and list mean extra to me. Continue reading

WORD WONDERS’ TBR EXPANSION : Books with main F/F pairings PT. 2

f-f pairings

Hello friends!

A year and a half ago, I posted a list on here with some 30+ books with main f/f pairings (linked at the end of the post). And in the time since then, I found myself with so so many books that fall under that category to recommend and debated whether to update the old list or just make an new one so I just settled on making a new one 1/ for easy access and 2/ because a post with almost a 100 books can be pretty tedious because YES, this list of sapphic books I have today is 50 BOOKS LONG. And there are so many more out there that I haven’t included or don’t even know of, and the number of f/f reads out there just waiting for me to discover and/or read them just makes my heart happy. Without further ado, here are the books. Continue reading

Word Wonders’ TBR Expansion: Books with East and South East Asian Main Characters

East and SE Asian.png

Hello friends!

I’m back again with a book list post that takes a WHOLE DAY (literally) to make but hey! No regrets, even though I hate making these, I love making them. Forgive me if this doesn’t make sense, it’s well past two am as I’m typing this and I might or might not be delirious with fatigue, but shhhh. ANYWAY. As I was working on my #YARC2019 TBR last month, I realized that although I have lists that include South and West Asian books, I still hadn’t done one with books that have East or South East Asian main characters, but FRET NOT, I’m here to remedy that today. And so far, this is the list I’ve compiled that has the most books with 70+ items.

Word Wonder’s TBR Expansion: Books with Transgender and/or Non-binary Main Characters

Hello friends!

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve added to my recommendations series (since August to be precise) but we all know I was in a slump and when I got out of it I wanted to take things easy and since these posts take A LOT of time and Energy to put together and I really didn’t feel up to writing one at all. Up until a couple weeks ago so good news, WE’RE BACK FOLKS! I’m not going to be making them monthly anymore, these post will happen maybe once every three months or so because of the aforementioned reasons. I’ll stop rambling now and get on with a list of books with non-binary and/or transgender main characters. Continue reading

Word Wonder’s TBR Expansion: MENAH Month Recommendations

Menah Month

Hello friends!

I know I haven’t really been keeping up with blogging the past month and I’m really sorry about that! But I’ll get more into that in my August wrap-up, for now, I am back with a list that’s near and dear to my heart. In case you didn’t know (how?) I’m North African, Moroccan to be more specific. So, in celebration of August being Middle Eastern North African Heritage Month (which, most of the world isn’t aware of) I decided I would make books with North African and Middle Eastern  main characters the focus of my recommendations post. WORD WONDERS’ TBR EXPANSION : Books with South Asian Main Characters

South asian MCs.png

Hello friends!

It’s been a while since I’ve done a recommendations post, with my hiatus and only being here for half June, I didn’t get around to putting one together last month and I also didn’t have a time slot for it. But now here we are. I’ve been wanting to do Asian book recommendations for a while but since there are so many beautiful identities under the umbrella term, I decided that to make easier for me as well as for people who are looking for recommendations, I’ll split it up in regions so for today’s post, it’s books with South Asian main characters.

I will try to include content warnings for as many of them. The ones that I couldn’t find content warnings for will have a (*) in front of their titles. Continue reading

WORD WONDERS’ TBR EXPANSION : Books with Depression representation

Depression.png

Hello friends !

For this month’s recommendations I chose Books with Depression representation. There was no mystical reasoning behind it, I just thought that there isn’t enough mental health talk and featuring more books with it -centering it or not. I already did Anxiety and I’m slowly making my way but let me tell you, this list was way harder to gather than I originally anticipated. Depression in books isn’t that common to begin with and a lot of books seem to go about it the wrong way so actually finding some that are good was quite the struggle, not gonna lie. And even then, the number of books I was able to find isn’t that impressive.

I will try to include content warnings for as many of them. The ones that I couldn’t find content warnings for will have a (*) in front of their titles.

WORD WONDERS’ TBR EXPANSION : Books with main F/F pairings

f-f pairings

Hello friends !

So. Today is Valentine’s Day and I’m back with a recommendations post. While trying to figure out what to choose as this month’s “representation” I remembered that for some folks the month is aaaaall about romance and things like that, which is great if you’re into it but if you’ve followed me for a while, you know that this is my third february blogging and I’ve never done anything different to celebrate this date buuuut I figured since a lot of people read romance this month and that f/f relationships are severely overlooked, I decided it’s the perfect time to highlight them. So yeah, for this month, I will be recommending books with female/female relationships.

I will try to include content warnings for as many of them. The ones that I couldn’t find content warnings for will have a (*) in front of their titles.
