Word Wonders turns THREE: I answer your questions!

3rd blog anniversary

Hello friends!

MY BABY BLOG TURNS THREE THIS WEEK I’m still a little bit in denial over the fact that I’ve been around for that long? I mean, it’s not a super long time in the grand scheme of things, but it’s long to me, because I’ve never been able to stick with a project for over a year, let alone two and now three with no end in sight. So, to celebrate I asked y’all for questions since it’s been a while since I’ve done a Q&A. and here are my answers: Continue reading

TAG #42: The 20 Questions Book Tag

20 questions.png

Hello friends!

It’s been a long while since I did one of these good ol’ question tags, and I’m pretty sure I did one very similar to this one when I first started but it’s probably over two years old now, I changed AND have gained quite the amount of followers since then, so even if some of these questions I’ve answered before it’s gonna feel like new.

The 20 Questions tag was created by buydebook on Goodreads and I was tagged by the lovely Sumedha @ The Wordy Habitat  quite the while back (in March oops) but since I don’t get around to doing tags that much anymore, I’m only doing it now! Continue reading

Award #18: Here comes the sun…AGAIN.

Hello friends!

Long time, no award seen! It’s been a little while since I’ve done one of these but I’m back with the Sunshine Blogger Award today as the lovely Aliénor @ Meet the Book World tagged me to do it so I must oblige. Plus, the questions sounded really fun so I thought why the hell not do it. Thank you for the tag lovely ❤ .

Q&A and Giveway

Hello guys!

But this time around I’m adding a giveaway to make it a bit more special. If you’re here for the giveaway, SHAME ON YOU. No, I’m just kidding, I don’t blame you, I ramble a lot. Continue reading

Word wonders turns ONE: I answer all your questions

Hello Guys !

I seriously cannot believe I’ve been around for a year and I never would have thought I’d make it to see the day where this little baby of mine would turn one. Because commitment issues and boredom. Yeah, yikes. But by some kind of miracle that didn’t happen with this blog and I don’t see a day where it will be happening because I’m loving it more and more each day. It boggles my mind how quickly time passes by, it genuinely doesn’t feel like a year has gone by. I’ve grown for sure, but I still feel like I just started (which in a way I just did, compared to the people who have been around for years).

Not gonna lie, blogging was harder some times more than others, because of how long writing posts takes and how much work goes into it, but for the most part it has been a wonderful journey that I’d never regret making the decision of starting. To be honest, I’m very tempted to make all this introduction a text of me screaming I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT. But I won’t. Because I want to show all of you how grateful I am that you have made this adventure an amazing one for me.

Thank you to each one of my followers for baring with my lame humor and rambly posts, especially those who always leave comments, you can’t imagine how much your kind words mean to me, they make my days a whole lot better and they put a huge smile on this face of mine.

And a special huge thanks to the friends I’ve made and without whom blogging and being on the internet everyday would never be same. They always have my back no matter what and that’s something I can never forget. Some of my best friends I met through blogging and you know who you are, you’re the ones I talk to everyday and to whom I go to with my every news I have, every new obsession, every rant and rave. Thousands of miles might separate us, but I’m determined to cross them one day and meet you. I LOVE YOU ❤

Okay, now that I’m done with the cheese and emotions, let’s start the Q&A, shall we?

What would your biggest dream be? What’s your actual dream job? Dream place you’d love to visit?Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane Books.

My biggest dream is with no doubt to travel all around the world. There are so many beautiful places that I want to visit and I hope I’ll be lucky  one day to go and discover some of them. At the top of that list is either Greece or the Netherlands so yeah that’s my answer for dream place to visit haha. Dream job is the one I’m fortunate enough to be working towards right now which is being a Doctor, I’d also love to go on missions with organizations like Doctors without Borders, that’s my ultimate job goal.

How did you break your laptop screen with a scarf? -Meghan @ Whimsically Meghan.

This was such a ridiculous thing hahaha. So, to keep it short, I always wear one of those huge scarfs at home because it is freezing. A couple of weeks ago, I put my laptop on my desk and didn’t pay attention to the tip of that scarf which got stuck under the laptop (like seriously THE TIP, not even a big chunk), so when I turned around the scarf turned with me and it brought the laptop down with it. That’s how my laptop screen was shattered. Because of a scarf. Yep.

What is your favorite song at the moment? -Chloe @ The Chloe Douglas Blog & Lauren @ Wonderless Reviews.

I’M IN LOVE WITH THE SHAPE OF YOU. Okay, if you didn’t guess it’s Shape of You by Ed Sheeran. It always gets me jamming and dancing, and it instantly puts me in a good mood.

What show would you star in if you could and would your role be like? *cough* I am assuming it will be something in The Royals *cough* -Kat @ Life and Other Disasters.

You already guessed half the answer, didn’t you? hahaha. And I’m pretty sure who I’d want to be won’t come as a surprise either. I want to be Eleanor’s best friend. I love that girl so much and she’s had her fair share of betrayal and heartbreak for a life time so yeah I want to be her loyal royal bestie.

What’s your favorite Tv-show? -Angel @ Bookhearts Forever.

Read the question above hahaha. I’m completely obsessed with the Royals right now. It took over my life while I was binge watching the available seasons and now waiting for a new episode every week is painful and I have Kat to thank for that. She did it to me. And for those of you who don’t know, the Royals is about a fictious English royal family with a LOT of scandals and drama.

If money weren’t a problem, what are the top 3 places you’d want to visit? -Kat @ Life and Other Disasters.

  • Greece
  • The Netherlands
  • Italy

Someone fund my travellings. Please and thank you.

What’s your favorite food? -Reg @ She Latitude.

SUSHIIIIIS. I’ve literally eaten it every one of my birthdays for the past 3 years.

If you could live anywhere in the world other than where you are currently, where would it be? -Reg @ She Latitude.

It would be somewhere with easy access to English books and out of all the places that have that, London sounds the most appealing to me right now.

How long did it take until you personally felt like your blog was somewhat successful, in your opinion? -Mikaela @ The Well-thumber Reader.

Umm.. This is such an interesting question because I don’t see myself as a successful blogger in the literal sense of the term? But what I can say that I started feeling somewhat like that when I got more confident with my content as well as when I started having real friends that I don’t imagine myself without. That’s pretty much what success is to me. No big number or stats. Although those are really nice too haha.

What is one big lesson you’ve learnt from one year of blogging? -Anushka @ Going Through Books.

It’s not as easy as it seems. When I was thinking about starting, I thought “How hard can it be?”, and though it isn’t hard, it takes a lot of time, effort and commitment. From thinking up post ideas, writing them, graphics, promoting, visiting other blogs, etc… it takes a lot. But I love it so it doesn’t feel like a burden and it makes it all worth it.

Are you reading more of some genres since you started blogging? -Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane Books & Melissa @ Booknerd Momo.

Fantasy and Historical Fiction. Which is funny because they’re now favorites of mine. I used to side-eye HF so much before even though I’ve always been a History Nerd si I don’t know why I thought I wouldn’t like them. As for Fantasy, I grew up subconciously thinking that they were for boys so I never even tried one before last year.

What kinds of posts are your favorites to write? – Gail @ Gail the Fabulaphile & Lauren @ Wonderless Reviews.

Discussions for sure. I get to ramble at my heart’s desire, I get to make my lame jokes -or be serious, depending on the topic- and I’m generally just more excited when the post I’m writing is a discussions versus everything else. I still love the other types of posts but these have my heart.

What advice would you give someone who is just starting out with their blog? -Tiana @ The Book Raven

Be yourself. I know that this is the generic advice that every blogger gives but it’s the most essential one. Don’t worry about what everyone else is writing about or how people would react to this or that kind of posts. We can’t all be saying the same things, what fun is that? From experience, the posts that have the most interaction are the genuine ones where I get personal and talk about things that really matter to me. Or the ones where my personality really shows.

What’s the first review you ever posted on your blog? And what differences do you see between that and the last one you posted? -Marta @ The Book Mermaid.

Ehehe, the first review I ever wrote was also the first post in general. It was my review for the Martian by Andy Weir and everything about it is different? haha. It didn’t have any structure (not saying it’s a bad thing, I just have the memory of a gold fish so I need structure to remember everything I want to say) while my reviews now are roughly sectioned and I also noticed that I’m way more critical now and I tend to notice things that I used to think back then “How does this blogger notice all those things?”

In an average week, how many hours do you spend reading and blogging? -Reg @ She Latitude.

Oh boy. Can a lot be the answer? No? Okay. I read on average 2hours a night on week days and around 4 on week ends so I read around 18 hours a week, could be more, could be less. As for blogging, I never paid attention but one post takes on average 2 hours + blog hopping, comments, etc… I’d say 10 hours is the minimum.

Is there anything you ever felt scared to post about on your blog?  Any issue you wish you could cover but are unconfident to do so in case of haters? -Hannah @ A Mortal Reader.

Yeah of course, I was really scared to get backlash from people who would twist my words when I posted “To some, access to books is a Luxury” and I also felt REALLY nervous when writing my post about “Reading Books at the wrong time” because I got very personal in that one.

Umm, I don’t think haters will ever stop me from speaking my mind, because at the end of the day this is my blog and I say whatever I want in it as long as I’m respectful and I don’t hurt anyone in the process. Yes I’m scared of being hated on at times, but I still talk about the things that matter to me.

Do you like when book bloggers talk about issues they’re passionate about? Such as feminism, climat change etc… -Hannah @ A Mortal Reader.

100% YES. Those are some of my favorites because they blog about things that are important to them and it can be very educational especially when I’m not very aware when it comes to the topics that are discussed.

What’s the most difficult thing about blogging for you ? -Lauren @ Wonderless Reviews.

Definitely keeping up with other blogs. With the amount of blogs that I follow, posts add up very quickly and with real like things + taking care of my own blog, it gets hard sometimes to find the time to read other bloggers’ posts.

When you started blogging a year ago, did you expect to be where you are now? -Lauren @ Wonderless Reviews.

Honestly? No. Not in the number of followers, not in the stats, not in the design, not in my place in the community, not in the relationships I gained. I NEVER would have thought that I’d get to 500 followers in a year, never would have thought that I’d meet people who’d become my best friends, that I’d get to interact with authors, and so on and so forth. I have so many things now that I never expected my blog to give me.

What’s been the proudest blogging moment of your first year?Sammie @ Bookshelves & Biros.

Umm… This is a really hard one, because I’ve had a lot o small proud moments, like reaching every milestone, changing my bog design and seeing how everyone responded to it, etc… My proudest one recently is when an author I love and admire reached out to me to help her work on something, that was really something very special to me, and something I would’ve never thought would happen.

How do you think blogging changed your personal life and your life as a reader?Sammie @ Bookshelves and Biros.

Well, first of all, I spend a lot of my free time working on my blog haha. No but more seriously, blogging changed me a lot as a person. I’m more confident in holding important discussions, I’m way more open-minded and critical in reading as well as in real life. As for my reading, last year I read more than three times what I used to read before starting my blog, I read more regularly and with a critical eye more often than not.

What’s one thing about blogging that you really struggled with when you first started your blog?Melissa @ Booknerd Momo.

Coming up with discussion topics was a real struggle for me at first. It’s not that I didn’t know what to talk about, it’s that I worried what people would think and if they would care about those things I want to talk about. But once I got over that, discussing different topics on here became a lot easier.

What Books have you read for your blog that changed your life or your perspective on the world in some way? -Diana @ Diana Prince Reviews.

Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi and When the Moon was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore. They are both books I read last year and I can’t even begin to explain the kind of impact they had on me. That’s not even an exaggeration, I CAN’T FORM WORDS. But I have reviews for them which you can find here and here that try to explain why everyone should read both of those books. I’ll never shut up about them.

What made you want to start reading in English, since it’s not your native language? -Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane Books.

I’ve never thought about it before but it just felt like the natural course of things, I started being fluent in English so translating that into my reading seemed like the right move to do. To be fair, I never like reading in my native language haha, I used to read in French before that and some translations can be pretty bad, if they are even available that is.

Would you rather have a bedroom with bookshelves all around the walls or an actual room dedicated to books? -Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane Books.

MARIE I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS! Why you do this to me. I’m very tempted to steal Kat’s answer for this one because it sounds awesome but no. I think I will take a room dedicated to books.

What fairytales/stories do you wish there were more retellings of? -Tiana @ The Book Raven.

The Twelve Dancing Princesses was one of my favorite stories growing up and I only manages to find one retelling for it (which I haven’t read yet) so I definitely want more of it. Hansel and Gretel is one that would definitely be interesting with a modern twist.

What Books did you love reading while Growing up? -Tiana @ The Book Raven.

The Grimm brothers Fairytales, the kid friendly ones obviously not the creepy ones. I also devoured all the Famous Five books by Enid Blyton, I lived for that group of friends’ adventures.

If you could read only one genre for the rest of your life which would it be? -Kat @ Life and Other Disasters.

Why are my friends evil? And why do you hate me? Uuuuh… I’m torn between Fantasy and Contemporary, I love all the the different worlds Fantasy has to offer but contemporary was my first love so that’s probably what I’d choose. Contemporary.

Imagine you had the power to read a character out of a book and get them to live in ours, who would it be? -Kat @ Life and Other Disasters.

Again. Evil. I would probably choose Nina Zenik from Six of Crows because her love for food made my life and I feel like we would be great friends, and she’s relatively harmless… even though those powers of hers are frightening.

If you could take the place of one main character and live their journey who would you pick and why?Beth @ Reading Every Night.

Probably Jordan from Noteworthy by Riley Redgate. The MC is such a funny, relatable girl. She also joins an A capella group and goes on a little cross-dressing experiment that would definitely be interesting. Keep a look out for it once it comes out in May, you don’t want to miss out.

What Book  world do you wish was real? -Beth @ Reading Every Night.

The Wizarding World is a pretty standard answer isn’t it? haha. Well, it’s either that or Red London, though I’m very nervous about this one because of how A Gathering of Shadows ended, I don’t think it’s safe anymore, so it being real is probably a bad idea.

Is there a book you’ve read that was bad that you wish you could go back and stop yourself from picking up? -Beth @ Reading Every Night.

No? Don’t get me wrong, I read my fair share of bad books but I don’t regret any of them because at least I can warn other people, especially in the case of problematic books.

Who is your favorite bookish character and why? -Angel @ Bookhearts Forever.

LILA BARD from the Shades of Magic trilogy. If you read those books, you already know why she is my favorite because how can you not love her? She’s so sassy, witty and cunning. A very flawed but very lovable character.

If you could trade places with any villain in any book, which one would it be and why?Melissa @ Booknerd Momo

I don’t think trading places with a villain would be very smart hahaha. They all end up dead or stripped of power or something. I’d much rather be on the other side of that scenario. So, no trading places with a villain for me.

What’s your favorite bookish quote? Sammie @ Bookshelves and Biros.

It’s a quote from none other than the glorious book that has ruined all fantasy for me, Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo.

Crooked Kingdom.png

Well, that’s it for this Q&A, I LOVED answering al these questions, some were really fun, others made me think. They’re all around awesome, so thank you for taking time to ask me ❤

Life Update + Ask me Questions

New Design Announcement.png

Hello Guys !

I MISSED BLOGGING SO MUCH !! And I missed visiting all your blogs and commenting on them so so much as well. How have you been? How is your 2017 so far? What are you currently reading?

I’m finally able to breath and get back to blogging so I thought I’d write a quick post to catch up and announce my official return to Word Wonders.

I know that you probably haven’t noticed that I wasn’t around because posts have been going up… less than usual but they were still there nonetheless but the truth is I haven’t blogged in more than a month -Ah, the magic of scheduling- so I feel like I don’t know how to blog anymore haha, forgive me while I shake off the rust.

So, where have I been? I know I said in my December wrap-up that I’d be going on a semi-hiatus because of my exams but it’s not just that. If you don’t follow me on Twitter (which you should totally do, HERE #selfpromo hehe) you don’t know that I shattered my laptop screen because of a scarf (yeah, long story!) a couple of weeks ago and ’til this day I’m still waiting for it to get fixed. I’m using my sister’s in the meantime.

About the exams, they were all okay, but the last one. It was the shittiest exam I’ve ever had to take and I will probably have to retake it (with 80% of the class) because the prof is vicious and he hates us. Anyway, I won’t bore you with details. I finished on the 20th and I wanted to blog this week-end but I was out of town with no Wifi so THAT didn’t happen either. That’s why there has been no Monday post this week, instead, I’ll be posting it tomorrow.

After all this rambling, I just want to say that I’ll be back to my normal schedule of 3 posts a week next week 😀

EXCITING NEWS!! Sunday, this baby blog of mine will be turning ONE. To celebrate that, I want you to ask me all the questions that might come to mind no matter the topic, personal, professional? blogging, reading, anything, everything… I’m open to answer all questions!

I’ll be answering all of them on Sunday, 29th. Bring the balloons and party poppers and come celebrate with me !

That’s it until next time.

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.

Award #13: I’m a Mysterious Potato… NOT.

Mystery Award.png

Hello Guys!

Long time no Awards seen, am I right? Well, I’m back today with one that I haven’t seen going around much so I decided why not do it now. It’s the Mystery Blogger Award for which I was tagged by two lovely people who are Jasmine @ How Useful it is and Jamie @ Book Pandamonium. This award was created by Okoto Enigma and this is what it is for:

“Mystery Blogger Award”  is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.

The Rules:

  • Put the award logo/image on your blog
  • List the rules
  • Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well
  • Tell your readers 3 things about yourself
  • You nominate 10 – 20 people
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog
  • Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify)
  • Share a link to your best post(s)

I have no idea if this will be repetitve or not, but here we go:

  1. I used to drink lots of milk as a kid but now my stomach can’t take it. I may be Lactose intolerant.
  2. On allergies. Cats kill me. I cannot be in the same room as one or hell breaks down on me.
  3. I don’t have a favorite movie though I watch a lot.
  4. I like both Tea and Coffe but if I had to choose, it’ll be Tea everytime.
  5. I had short hair my whole childhood so now I can’t seem to be able to cut it above chest length. IT HURTS MY SOUL.
  6. I used to paint a lot as a kid and now I’m slowling getting back into it.

1. What’s your favorite book genre ?

Well, we’re off to an awful start because I. CAN’T. CHOOSE. I love Fantasy, contemporary AND Historical Fiction equally. They’re all my babies. Plus, I get bored easily so I switch between the three quite often.

2. What’s your guilty pleasure?

Mmm, I don’t know? Like, I’ve never thought of something as a guilty pleasure. I own up to my actions haha. No. I just don’t know what it is. I’m sure I have more than one that I don’t even consider as such.

3. Dogs or cats?

Refer to fact 2 to have your answer. I can’t be a cat person even if I wanted to. I mean I like cats, I even had one before this allergy ordeal but I ADORE dogs, my goal in life is to have a house of my own to have a dog, because my mom doesn’t want one at home *sigh* even though she had one when her and my dad first got married. Yes, that’s how much I love them.

4. Best book you read this year?

JUST ONE? What kind of question is this. But fair enough, if I had to choose just one that I want everyone to read, it’ll be Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. I cannot express how grateful I am that this book exists, just go read it, PEUH-LEASE !! Here’s my review to help convince  you.

5. Weird Question: What was your favorite/weirdest dream?

I don’t have a favorite dream but the weirdest one is one that I’ve been having since I was a kid, I don’t know what it, I just know that it is the same one, like when I’m dreaming I know but once I wake up I have NO idea, I just know that I’ve had it gazillion times before. Also, when I was a kid it used to be a nightmare but now it’s not?!

1. What do you like to do most this time of year?

NOT study for exams. Like, literally ANYTHING else because that’s ALL I do this time of the year and it is killing me. I’ve been at it for a month now so I’m stressed, exhausted and freaking out. I’m fine though (Send help).

2. Did you already plan for how many books you will read next year?

Well, at least 70 hopefully because I read more thant that this year, though I’ll be putting my goal on Goodreads to 60. It is 10 more books than last year’s challenge but still not too stressful because I’m giving myself a comfortable margin.

3. What is your #1 goal next year?

Survive 3rd year of medschool? Sorry ahaha. My brain is overpowered with everything study related right now. One of my main goals for next year is to draw/paint/hand-letter more frequently. Like, I do that from time to time right now but I want to make more time for it and thus do it more often.

4. Are you happy with the direction your blog is heading?

VERY happy, actually. I’ve got a new design, recently hit 500 followers (I still can’t believe it), and have a general vision for what I want my blog to be next year content wise. So, yeah! I’m pretty satisfied with the direction it’s headed.

5. Weird: What extreme do you go to take care of books you own?

Mmm… None? None that I consider an extreme that is hahaha.

Mystery 4.png

(Didn’t want to use any of the old ones because of the graphics hahaha)

I Tag:

My Questions:

  1. What’s one pet-peeve you have that you cannot handle above all others?
  2. What’s your favorite Tv-show? Movie? Book?
  3. What’s your main reading resolution for next year?
  4. What’s one hidden skill you have?
  5. Funny Question: What’s one emoji that you use out of place or that no one else uses?

That’s it until next time.

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.

Award #9 : It’s sunny ! So let’s answer a Gazillion Questions

Hello Guys !

I’ll never cease to say it, I am THE WORST at keeping up with tags and awards ! It’s gotten so bad just when I thought I was doing better at managing them but hey it’s okay, there will be a very far time when I’ll have done all of them, maybe later than I’m supposed to, but at least I’ll do them all ! For today, it’s going to be The Sunshine Blogger Award and it is quite fitting to be honest, it has been SO HOT these past couple days in Morocco, my brain is melting and I can’t think straight, so excuse me in advance if I ramble. I’ve been tagged for this one by some lovely ladies: Giovannard @ Bookcoma Blog , Felicia @ Fell for Books and Sammie @ Bookshelves and Biros. Thank you so much !

The rules :

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Answer 11 questions set by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 bloggers to receive the award and write them 11 new questions to answer.

Giovannard’s questions :

1. What is your favorite movie?

HOW? Just HOW am I supposed to know this with a billion movies out there. I genuinely don’t have a favorite movie *gasps*. I watch a lot of movies, and love a lot of movies but never thought of one of them as “YES! This one is my favorite.”

2. What is your dream job?

Umm.. The one I’m studying my ass off for right now? haha I hope to not blow some fuses in my brain before getting to be a decent doctor some day in the future, which I’m very pumped but also might-pee-my-pants nervous about.

3. What is your favorite color?

Blue no doubt ! All kinds and shades. Well, almost, there is one I don’t like but let’s forget about it.

4. What is your favorite food/restaurant?

What food is NOT my favorite you mean ? haha I’m just kidding, my favorite food has to be sushis, I’m always craving it and can’t get enough of it. Proof: I just ate it yesterday and want some more right now.

5. Favorite Band or Musical Artist?

This one is fairly easy … I think. My favorite band is probably The Script. I just love them so much and keep listening to their songs over and over again without ever getting fed up. So that answers it, right?

6. Hardback or Paperback Books?

Theoretically, Hardbacks. They just look so pretty on shelves and I’m admirative of anyone who manages to get ALL of their books in hardback. But really, I prefer Paperbacks, they’re just easier to manage and are cheaper.

7. What book was the last book you read, and gave 5 Stars?

A Gathering of Shadows Final

A Gathering of Shadows by QUEEN V. E. SCHWAB. I’m still not over how amazing that book is. I could rave on and on and on about it -which I did in my review that’s going up next week- and I wouldn’t do it justice. ALL OF YOU PEOPLE SHOULD READ IT NOW.

8. Have you ever given a book 1 Star, and if so, what book was it?

Alwyn Hamilton - Rebel of the Sands

Yep, just recently actually. It was Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton and just the thought of it gets me all worked up again. I won’t go into the detail about all the problems I had with it here, because all of probably know all about it from my review.

9. What is your favorite book genre?

It is a tie between Fantasy and Contemporary, please don’t make me choose, I CAN’T. Yes, they are at different ends of the spectrum but I loved both genres more than words can express and the amount of both I read this year is actually pretty similar, so that says it all.

10. Who is your favorite author?

Just this year, I added SO many new favorite authors to my list. And since I already brought up Schwab’s awesomeness in another question, I’ll say Jandy Nelson. HER CONTEMPORARIES THOUGH. Realest, most genuine portrayals I’ve ever read.

11. Have you ever traveled outside of your country? If so, where to?

Yes, I did once like 6 years ago (WOW WAS IT THAT LONG ?) and I went to both Spain and France on a kind of road trip with my aunt. It was SO good.

Felicia’s questions :

1. A book you want to read but haven’t yet because of it’s size?

This can either be Outlander by Diana Gabaldon or A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. They’re MASSIVE BOOKS, especially the latter. But I’ll eventually end up reading them.

2. Your favorite tv-series?

What’s with you people and favorite? *faints* I’m a VERY indecisive person, I’m sure you have noticed so I just can’t deal with picking, there are way too many great things in the world. But to narrow it down, it’s between Grey’s Anatomy and One Tree Hill. (The Gif for GA made me sob a little, no biggy, I’m just broken here)

3. If you were a mythical creature, what would you be?

Medusa ? hahaha. Okay no, probably a centaur, they always fascinated me and they’re some of my all time favorite mythical creatures, so beautiful and strong but also very protective of their own.

4. What’s your dream job?

See the answer for Giovannard’s Q2.

5. Name 3 things you’re really good at.

Do eating, sleeping and reading count ? Okay probably not. So, I’m a great listener, I’m pretty decent at drawing and a good dancer.

6. Your ultimate OTP?

DECISIONS AGAIN ! This Award is going to be the death of me. I just have so many ships. But the first one that I truly shipped and that has a special place in my heart is Cather and Levi from Fangirl. kfhehk lsphvnb *-*

7. A new release you’re excited for?

J. K. Rowling - (#8) HP and the Cursed Child.jpg

HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD. YAAAS !! I can’t wait to get my hands on it and just dive right back in that wonderful, fantastical, magical world.

8. What color are your eyes?

Very, very dark brown.

9. A fictional world you want to live in?

Red London from the Shades of Magic trilogy. But can we please close off White London or something, that place gives me the creeps.

10. A book character you’d like to meet?

Everyone that I love maybe ? I’ll go with Yael from Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin. She’s just so badass and amazing, plus who wouldn’t want to meet and befriend a shapeshifter. I know you do too !

11. What’s the best book you’ve read this year so far?

All of you already know about this one ! It’s I’ll Give you the Sun by Jandy Nelson, duh !! That book has been SO hard to top. But there’s also Wolf by Wolf AND A Gathering of Shadows. I DON’T KNOW OKAY ? I CAN’T CHOOSE.

Sammie’s questions :

1. What’s your happiest memory?

Wow ! This is a deep one. Um.. Let me think about this for a bit ! It was probably when I knew I got into Med School. It was not only a dream come true but also the look of pride on my mom’s face meant the world to me. It reduced me to tears.

2. Which OTP (one true pairing) makes you the happiest?

Probably Oscar and Jude from I’ll Give you the Sun. Their interactions were so awkward and funny and I just rooted for them so much that thinking about them always makes me happy.

3. How do you like to relax and unwind?

Tv-shows. Anyone who answers books is a big fat liar. BOOKS STRESS ME OUT PEOPLE! Tv-shows or YouTube videos on the other hand don’t strangle my feelings so yeah ! Definitely those.

4. What do you find most satisfying about blogging?

The interactions with no doubt in mind. I just love seeing all of your comments, responding to them, discussing. And also just talking on Twitter and making new friendships that I’ll cherish forever. I love you guys ! You’re awesome !

5. What’s your spirit animal?

We’re talking about actual animals here right? In that case, it’s the wolf. Don’t ask why, I have no clue ! I just have always said the wolf hehe and recent books I read have only intensified that certainty.

6. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?

Pizza probably? I LOVE Pizza and I can play with the toppings however I want to make sure I never get tired of it, because this girl right here can eat anything on a pizza … except maybe pineapples, I hate those as a topping.

7. What one piece of advice would you give your younger self?

Don’t care so much about what people might or might not think of you. That’s the biggest issue I had growing up. People’s opinions affected and scared me so much that it got to a point (around 15) when I dreaded going out of the house, especially to go to school. If people didn’t like me? There was something wrong with me. If people criticized something I loved? I started hiding it. If people criticized something I was doing? I stopped it altogether. It was really bad and I only stopped giving a shit my senior year of High School and I’ve never been happier.

8. Tell us about one fictional character that makes you smile!

Cress from The Lunar Chronicles. She’s so shy, naïve (not the annoying kind) and endearing. She’s like a little baby that I want to cover in hugs and marshmallows and protect at all costs. But at the same time, for someone who doesn’t know her way around earth -and life- she’s not completely helpless and quite resourceful.

9. If you could go back in time and live in any era, what would it be?

Ancient Greece. I love it so so much ! And it is a time period that fascinated me since I was a kid. I just love the history and all the mythology surrounding it.

10. Do you have any secret talents or party tricks?

Mmm… I don’t know about a secret talent but I’m quite flexible which always surprises people haha. And also, my fingers are double jointed so I can do all kind of crazy things with them.

11. Give me a quote that makes you happy!

Guess where this quote is from. I’ll Give you the Sun obviously ! Almost all the quotes from that book make me happy, because the book in itself is my ray of sunshine (okay I’m turning into a fluffball here, I’ll stop) But this one makes me happy AND is about happiness.

“I watch him throw his head back in supreme happiness, like he’s hearing that he gets to choose the colors for all the sunsets from now on.”

My questions :

  1. What has been the highlight of the year for you ?
  2. Besides reading, what are your passions ?
  3. Only from the books you’ve read this year, what characters would help you break out of prison ?
  4. What’s a fictional world you wouldn’t survive in ?
  5. What are 3 things you love about yourself ?
  6. What’s a superpower you’d want to have
  7. If you could exchange lives with one character for 24h, which one would it be ?
  8. Do you have any pets ? If not, would you want to ?
  9. Beach or Mountains ?
  10. Who are the bloggers that inspire you?
  11. Where do you go to spend some time alone ? (Aside from your room)

Award #7 : Glad my uncontained Sarcasm can be of use

Hello guys !

Missed me? Missed me? Missed me? I know it has only been 2 days but I know you did. Or maybe not. Anyway, woke up this morning to find that my internet has magically come back, thus me being here today with a new award, the Entertainer Blogger Award. Somehow, you crazy people think I’m entertaining and read my non-sense every time I post it and I keep on coming back with more. I was tagged by the wonderful Lauren @ Wonderless Reviews and Icebreaker694. You should definitely check these blogs out and give them a follow.

The rules :

  • Write a post with the award picture.
  • Nominate 12 other bloggers who are funny, inspiring, and, most important of all, ENTERTAINING!
  • Add these rules to the post.
  • Thank the person who nominated you and leave a link to their blog!
  • Also, answer these questions down below!

The questions :

Why did you start a blog in the first place?

Let’s see… I have several reasons for this one actually. The first thing that made me seriously think of starting a blog is coming out of a reading slump in January. Last year, I don’t think I read more than 10 books *shocked expressions* *choking noises* because I simply didn’t feel like it, so when I finally got my reading mojo back, I decided that I needed something to keep me motivated. And also, because I was tired of bottling up my -not so- inner fangirl emotions and I had to share them with someone, somewhere.

What is your favourite book?

STOP. I CAN’T EVEN CHOOSE MY FAVORITE BOOK OF THE YEAR. So I’ll give you my two 2016 favorites this far, for which you can see my reviews here: Wolf by Wolf & I’ll Give you the Sun.

Ryan Graudin - (#1) Wolf by Wolf  Jandy Nelson - I'll Give You the Sun

P.s: Click on the covers to go to the Goodreads pages

What do you dislike most?

So many things, you HAVE to be more specific haha. Oh! OH! I’ll tell you one thing that makes me want to destroy every damn thing. NO FUCKING ENGLISH BOOKS IN THIS COUNTRY. And also, most online stores don’t ship to Morocco, so this girl right here has next to none physical copies of books. KILL. ME. NOW.

What is your favourite food item from the mall?

Frozen Yoghurt. No matter what season it is, each time I go to the mall, I HAVE to get it. It is so good and refreshing and it instantly lifts up my mood. Weird I know. I usually put strawberries and pineapple one on it with one candy that’s called Tagada and it is SO GOOD.

What is your favourite pastime activity?

Reading  ? HAHAHAHA. Okay, kidding, I do lots of things besides that. I workout and go on drives in the middle of nowhere because I like discovering the hidden gems of mother nature.

The nominees :

I normally nominate people that I interact with a lot but this time I’m choosing the opposite because I love this community and want to know its people more.

Award #2 : Liebster or not to Liebster ?

Hello guys !

I’ve been really REALLY bad reading wise this week. I usually complete 2 books a week and for this one I haven’t even managed to finish one which is kind of upsetting but I don’t really mind, my life is crazy busy this month.

The main reason I haven’t done much reading is because I went to the ophtalmologist and my eye sight has gone worst which led to me having to leave my glasses to the optician so that they can get me new prescription lenses (I hate contacts so yeah I wear my glasses all the time). That being said, I get really bad headaches when I read without them so I’ve been away from books until today when I got them back.

So, no review today 😦 . I’ll try to finish Clockwork Angel by tomorrow so that I can put it up Monday. This gives me the opportunity to do some of the tags and awards that are waiting to be done.

For today, it is the Liebster Award, for which I was tagged by Icebreaker694 so thank you so much !

The rules:

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger gives you
  • Give 11 random facts about yourself
  • Nominate 11 bloggers that you think are deserving of the award
  • Give them 11 questions of your own

Let’s dive in :

The questions :
1- What is your favorite fanfic? *hehe*
I don’t have any because I don’t read them. I’ve never tried and I don’t think I’ll ever will simply because I don’t have enough time to study, read actual book, have a social life AND adding fanfiction is just impossible.
2- Where would you go if you can go anywhere in the world?
I would say Hogwarts but I’m pretty sure that’s not what this question is about. A place that I’m dreaming about visiting is Greece. Oh my god ! That country is just so magnificent.
3- What 5 superpowers would you like to have ?
Flying, which is an obvious choice. Healing, because who doesn’t want to? Breathing underwater, because if I could be a fish I would, water is just my element *-*. Time manipulation, such as freezing it, fast forwarding embarassing moments and slowing down the precious ones. And last but not least, omnilunguism, languages fascinate me and I wish I could understand/speak them just by listening.
4- Have you met any authors ?
Sadly, no. Because they never come to where I live.
5- What’s the most common name you have stumbled upon while reading ?
This question made me think. I couldn’t find any because I tend to forget the generic names. Oups.
6- Do you like love triangles ?
7- How many books can you read in a week ?
On average, I can read 2 books a week. I know it’s not much, but for my own sanity I can’t squeeze in more. Although, in the  summertime, I can read up to between 5 and 7 books a week.
8- What book have you re-read the most ?
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. But that was a long time ago. I haven’t been re-reading anything for the past few years, though I’ll hopefully dive into some of my favorite worlds this year.
9- Do you prefer a girl’s point of view of a boy’s ?
Well, I kind of like both but if I had to choose, I’ll go with a boy’s just because I like to be in the boy’s head, which I can’t do in real life haha.
10- Are you a night reader ?
100% yes. I do most of my reading at night before going to bed. I rarely find time to read at other times of the day.
11- How many books do you own ?
That’s a hard one. Since this girl right here is a lazy potato, I don’t want to count right now (It is nearly 1AM). But I think that it is around 200, e-books included.

The facts :
1- My favorite animals are Horses and Pandas.
2- I used to have a cat but I turned out to be allergic so we had to give him away.
3- I am OBSESSED with Buzzfeed videos, I can spend hours watching them.
4- I have a sister who is 8years younger than me, which makes her 11.
5- I love Gifs. I think they are absolutely hilarious.
6- My drawing is pretty descent even though I haven’t done it for ages.
7- I absolutely hate to read in Arabic, which is my mother tongue.
8- I started reading in French (It is my second language) when I was a little kid and took up English a couple years ago.
9- I am a Tv-show addict. Some of my favorites are: Grey’s anatomy, The Flash, Arrow, The Originals, Once Upon a Time …
10- I am left-handed.
11- I have a really good photographic memory.
My questions are :
1- Marvel or DC ? And why ?
2- If you could live in a fictional world, which one would it be ?
3- What are your most loved and most hated book tropes ? (One of each)
4- Which book do you think you could re-read without getting bored of ?
5- What’s a book character that everyone loves that you hate ?
6- Who’s your favorite superhero ?
7- Who(s your favorite supervillain ?
8- What’s a book that truly left a mark on you ?
9- Do you have any pet-peeves ?
10- Which author’s writing you can’t seem to get into ?
11- If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be ?
And I nominate :
I actually don’t know. This award has been going around a lot so I feel like everyone has already done it. If you haven’t then I nominate YOU because as long as you put an effort onto your blog you deserve an award. Please do it, I would love to see all your answers to these questions. Plus, it is really late, and I’m really sleepy so I don’t have the strength to look up who to tag (Sorry? ish?).

That’s it until next time.

If you do the award, go ahead and leave the link in the comments so that I can check it out.

Hope you enjoyed, write to you soon.
